So my wife's bday is coming up soon and i kinda want to get her a firearm. She is very recoil sensitive, weighs 100lbs soakIng wet. So heres some options im thinking: Remington 870 410 Yildiz O/U 410 Spikes AR 5.56 or 5.45 Ruger 10/22 If i get her the 870 or O/U she can shoot clays and dove with me. I think that will be a rare occasion. If i get a Spikes AR, I can tastefully color fill with pink so it stands out as hers. Plus it would give me an excuse to try a 5.45 AR . If i go with the 10/22 I can swap to a Tac Sol barrel with pink Hogue stock. She likes pink accented guns but nothing overboard. I like the color fill on this rifle but not the pink furniture and random parts colored. Id probably just color fill the logo and selector indicators. http://www.revolverforums.com/forum/picture.php?albumid=39&pictureid=233

Don't get a 410!!!!! Ammo is stupid expensive
Best friends wife is 105 she has the yildiz 20ga and loves it. They have a youth model with 26" barrel its perfect.
Not the kick usually, its the weight of the shot gun that bothers them...our shot guns are to heavy and females have issues getting heavy guns into their shoulders.

I saw pink ladder rail covers at the gun show that could be changed out easy if need. Had a cool effect

Bought my wife a Beretta 3901 20ga 26" barrel. Stock was cut and fitted to her with a Kick-Eez pad. She does not mind the recoil, but since breaking her shoulder 2 years ago, she has not shot it.

My 50 lbs 6yr old can shoot a 22-250. Alot more versatile than a .223, I would consider it.

not sure on the shotgun but: for my 7 year old grand daughter likes her Marlin 60 in Watermelon(pink) and her custom 5.56 AR in White with pink and black stripes. She don't weight 50 lbs.!

Not the kick usually, its the weight of the shot gun that bothers them...our shot guns are to heavy and females have issues getting heavy guns into their shoulders. I agree with not getting her a .410....but I also would suggest not getting her a 20 gauge either. Many 20 gauges kick worse due to being light-weight. If you want to get her a shotgun, get her a 12 gauge, and just buy some very light 7/8 oz. sporting loads for her....they make some that are very low recoil. And if you don't mind spending the money....there is no softer recoiling shotgun than a Beretta gas-auto (I suggest either a 391 or A400). Just my 2 cents...

If she's petite (short) one of the best is the Remington 1100 youth model. It's heavy enough that a 20 ga. sporting clays or skeet load will shoot very softly. They originally cames with a short stock and 26 in barrel.
for every stereotype there's a prototype don't be the prototype

You know your wife better than anyone. I would get her what you think she might use the most. I get a feeling it will be the 10/22 because it's just such a fun gun to play around with. I know I've shot more rounds out of my 10/22 than any other gun I own and I'm a 6' 210lb dude.
I'm a dude who likes long barrels!

Well a 12 or 20 gauge is out of the question. She's fired multiple of each....Beretta, Benelli, Browning...semis, pumps, o/u. She doesn't like recoil. She did try a 410 once before and really liked it. But I have a feeling that I'll end up shooting a 410 more than her because I think she'll just get frustrated trying to hit clays/dove with such a small amount of shot. In the end, I think the 410 would end up being my toy instead of hers. 10/22 would be cool and she's shot mine plenty. Just worried she'll think it's a little boring. My favorite platform to shoot is AR15, so I'm leaning that way the most. An AR would get us the most shooting time together. Since I already have a few ARs, this would truly be her gun and I'd have no reason to take it over. She's gonna be more into rollmarks than brand name and quality. She really likes the Spikes logo which is why I leaning their way. Color fill the logo and selector indicators with a rose pink and keep everything else black. I think it would look bad@$$ but not ridiculous like a Hello Kitty AR. Problem is....finding a Spikes lower

My wife has a problem with the weight of a shotgun, not so much the recoil.
Also consider one of the AR 22's (either a dedicated 22 gun or a big boy AR with a .22 upper. Lots of good 25 round magazines and .22lr is just plain fun (and really cheap).
Then get a .22 suppressor. They aren't TOOOO outrageous.

What you really need is a 300 Winchester Magnum. That is the best caliber on the planet, probably even in the solar system and maybe the universe. Go get him! Shoot him in the face!

Alot harder to find ammo for and expensive when you find it, but there is no finer light shotgun round for any than the 28 gauge. For dove and quail hunting it is about perfect. Light, Light Recoil, and much much more shooter friendly than a 410. Only problem is you need to reload if she plans on doing alot of shooting.
