Exactly I have had numerous 30-30 Bolt actions (savage, stevens Springfield) and they were fantastic for thier accuracy. In reality its all the gun one would need

First deer rifle I owned was a Savage 340 in 30-30 given to me by my brother(rest in piece brother, we miss you). Was a great rifle. Only thing I didn't like about it was the open top receiver which required a side mount scope mount. Should have kept it, but thought I needed a 308, so traded it in on a Remmington 788 in .308, which I still have and will never sell, even though it spends most of its time in the safe. If I ever get a chance to buy another 340, you can bet I will make a place in the safe for it, and now that I reload, would love to play with the 30-30 round and see what it is capable of. Don't think it has been mentioned, but the 340 bolt action has a removeable 3 round box magazine, so reloading pointed bullets for this gun would be no issue. Would never pass up a Remington 788 in a 30-30 as well. Have three 788's already and really like them, as stated above, one of there main advantages over a Savage 340, is a closed top receiver, which makes scope mounting easier.

My Yote toys,
Ruger 77 22-250
Foxpro 416B & numerous hand calls
