I was hunting with my brother a couple seasons ago. We had set in the stand all morning without seeing even a single doe, so decided to get out and do some walking. We were walking along a creek bottom (mainly looking for hogs) when my brother stopped me with a "would you look at that." Standing about 80 yards up the creek on the other side was a typical 10 that I would say would have gone 140-150. Most definitely would of been my biggest deer to date. I raised my .270 let a round fly and the deer dropped in his tracks. I should of given him more time, but we were both crazy excited. The creek was deep and that point so we got down to him, and had to loose some gear to cross, including my rifle (it was over neck deep). Soon as we got about 5 feet from him he got up and took off. We looked for hours, did not find any blood. Even had 2 more friends come out, spent all evening looking, then went back the next morning. Nothing. I had no idea what happened, I had never missed with that rifle. Later the next day went to the range and the rifle was shooting 1.5 feet high. I was heart broken. After that day I could never get the gun to hold an accurate zero. Lost faith in it and gave it away
