El Azteca on FM 1902 (Old Granbury Road) in the Crowley Joshua area about a mile South of 1187. Dang good. They only do breakfast on Saturdays and Sundays. up

Magoo's Place in Alpine, Texas is THE place.

After you finish off the chorizo and migas, take your coffee outside to Magoo's front porch and enjoy being in God's Country. You might pause and say a prayer for those poor fools across the street at McDonalds as they try to choke down their sausage and bisquits. Forgive them Lord, for they know not what they eat. food

Arandas Restaurants in the Houston area are good, I love their chilaquiles. El Taco Regio in Stafford on Murphy Rd is great has seņoritas bonitas serving is a big +.

For on the go breakfast, the Laredo Taco Company at Stripes gas stations in S.Texas are great. Fresh hand made tortillas and awsome food.

Lindo's in Huntsville is about the best all-around Mexican food I've had. Their Mexican-style breakfast platter is incredible. And cheap!

Angelica's in Pearsall is AWESOME- and I'd eat there everyday if I could- but waaaaaay too far for me to drive for a meal.

It is good, actually very good, but far from the best....
Well I will change that. It is the best Ballinger has to offer.

As it is so accurately described, what about in the DFW metro mess. Fuzzy's has been pretty good, but its not the real deal.

Do you know any place in the Dallas area especially!

Drove by the places hundreds of times. Did not want to make the trip into Ballinger so pulled in. It was absolutely, hands down, the worst meal I have ever eaten in my life!!!

Lupita's, about 3300 S Western in Amarillo. Very good. If you like spicy, try the chile verde.

Elena's in Farmers Branch. A literal hole-in-the-wall on Valwood, 2 blocks east of 35E, but when you have finished your bacon egg & cheese or chorizo & egg, or potato & egg migas... look me in the eye & tell me you ever had better!!!!

Benito's Kitchen at the Star Mart in Hogansville, on 515 headed out to Lake Fork from Emory. It is truly the best Mexican breakfast I have ever eaten.

Huevos a la Mexicana
Huevos con chorizo
Huevos rancheros
Migas
Go to have some tortillas and salsa ( I like the green best)
Add a few refied beans and diced potatos mixed with sauteed onions, and chiles

I think my favorite mexican breakfast is chips and queso with a cold beer or two! Next favorite is beef fajita or thin steak, with fried eggs, refried beans, cheese, tortillas and some good chips and salsa

You fellows ever in Bandera, the Mexican Rest downtown by across
from the old Cabret is pretty good..usually can get Huevos Rancheros w/Barbacoa and the fixings w/Tea or Coffee for around
$5 or $6 bucks depending on how many extra tortillias one orders
and the Barbacoa is really good..DD

At my son's house in Tyler this past weekend. Went down the street (north on Rusk) then west on Vine and found a little mexican place that make killer breakfast burritos. I'll try to find the name of the place. Free bean pot with breakfast as well.

I wonder if the Mexican restaurant (real Mexican, not Gringo) place we used to go for migas/breakfast is still across the highway from UT in Austin -don't remember the name n ow. Been 25 years so it's not likely. They had great food and a friendly staff!!...

And, what is the name of the soft rolls they filled with spiced ground beef? Is that a standard item that has a name?
Thanks,

I always stop at Bad Azz Burrito on Blue Mound, just North of 820 on the way to work. They know exactly what I want and it's very nice. I get a bean, cheese, and egg taco with fresh pico, salsa verde, and a bowl of pickled chiles and carrots on the side for less than 2 bucks. They will make anything you can dream up, and they're fast. Even got a drive through.

Now, for lunch and dinner, you can't beat Casa Lopez in Decatur.

Just got back from Tipico's, ordered the exact same dish as I did from Elenas. Ordered Huevos rancheros with the Potato's & Chorizo cooked together, beans and O.J. I enjoyed my breakfast at Tipico's, but Elenas was definetly better.

First picture is Tipico's, second Elenas.

Glad you posted that; I drive close all the time and did not know it was there. I am looking forward to trying it this week.

Edit: I figured out where we used to eat breakfast in Austin:
Cisco's Restaurant, East 6th St. Seemed good at the time but it's been 25 years... smile Don't know about these days....

El Rodeo in Lampasas. Migas, Ranchero, revueltas. breakfast Tacos and beans and rice or papas. Very authentic and very Tex-Mex. The other mexican places in Lampasas are garbage.

Another vote for Alejandra's in Ballinger! Dine there most every day when we're at the lease (sometimes twice a day). Good marks on the value scale.

El Paraiso Restaurant in Zapata, TX. North of Hwy 16 on 83.

Both the best mexican breakfast, and chicken fried steak all in one.

I have not had it in over two years, and it still calls to me. Every CFS I have had since has left me wanting.

Had several people tell me Cafe Brazil is real good, so I went Sunday morning to the Coit & George Bush location. Waiter recommended the Migas, so I tried them.

They were tasteless, hamburger meat had a light taco type flavor.

The only thing that was good was the Coffee.

any taqueria where you can buy menudo, lengua, carnitas, barbacoa, fresh tortillas and tamales to take home is going to be hard to beat.

Tamale House on Airport off 51'st is my latest find. 80 cent breakfast tacos were outstanding. Surprised myself when I stopped there a few days later and had a plate for lunch. Now, if I get a notion for Mex I'll drive clean across town to get their food. Careful where you park! Cops tow in a heartbeat if you park wrong. Since word is slippn out about this place parkin is an issue. Game Day? Forget it! About four tables on the front porch but no service needed or available. No perks but you won't care with these tacos!
What the H+++! I forgot! No Tamales???? Didn't miss em though.

Guys if you have not tried the Shell gas station on the N.W. corner of 35W & 380 in Denton your missing out. They have this Senorita back there cooking up breakfast and it is Muy Bueno!

Not your typical quick food, breakfast taco or burrito, you have different types of meat like Chorrizo & more, several types of hot sauce, cilantro, chopped onions and such, really fresh and good!

In Houston, try Los Reyes on McCarty/old Hwy 90 just outside the 610 loop. Everything there is great, but easily the best machacada(sp?) in town.

Matter of fact, Los Reyes is so good, I decided to have it for lunch. Carne Guisada with rice and beans, tortillas, chips and a lemonada.

11 pages and no mention of El Tapatio in kingsville or Riviera?!

No place that I've been comes close to that place. Can't beat a huge plate special of the day for $3.25 either.

Depends on the town I guess. My favorite is a bb with guiso, eggs mexicana, beans and pico. Try one its like breakfast and lunch together. Any one of a dozen or so shops in San Angelo do it right.

Me and the boss ate at El Paseo on Jacksboro Hwy in Ft Worth this morning. Not bad huevos mexicana and migas, warm flour tortillas, beans, and potatoes. I'd recommend it if you are ever on the northwest side of town. Medium priced, not cheap, not high. They haven't been open for breakfast very long.

Gave Cafe Brazil another shot. Had the Brazilian Breakfast, Its an Empenada filled with Chorizo and covered in a tangy cream sauce.
It was pretty tasty for $7.99, I love their coffee, so do they $2.69 a cup?

It's either El Jacalito (which is hit and miss) or the bright orange building on Main Street (I can't remember the name either). They have great fajitas!

On my wat to Jacksboro this am I stopped at Mi Fiesta for breakfast, it is on 281 on the south side of Mineral Wells.

I ordered Migas & added Chorizo.
It was okay good, decent flavor but they use the whole tortilla chip instead of strips. Unfortunately it sometimes tasted like I was eating Nachos? The Beans & Coffee were real good and as you can see no seasoning on the potatoes? I was the only Gringo in the place!! I will give it another shot on something simple like Huevos Rancheros or something.

Esperanzas is the best I've ever eaten. There's a couple of em in Fort Worth. As someone already stated its part of the Joe T's family. Only its the real Mexican side not that BS they serve at Joe T's. Eaten there for 12 plus years. Its better every time.

Taco Joint in Dallas. Only two locations. Awesome breakfast tacos. Reminds me of Josie's in Lubbock. Since the owner is from Tech probably where he got the idea.

Tried Chiloso this am, No Bueno! Ordered Migas added Chorizo meat. Not much flavor, tortilla chunks were soft & mushy, potatoes were bland tasted boiled! Beans, coffe and salsa were good. People that worked there were great!

I guess Migas are not there specialty??

Met Pitchfork Predator for breakfast at a new spot Dona Mary in the far N.E corner of Richardson . S.E corner of Park & Los Rios. Very good food & inexpensive.
I had the Huevos Rancheros with Chorizo, Pitch pigged out on a monster burrito & pancakes. Home made hot sauce, Delicious!!

Excellent Mexican breakfast. Fantastic Salsa. If you like made from scratch white corn tortillas they had some of the best I've had.

The pancakes were very good as well. Correction on the location:

East Plano @ Park & Los Rios.

I will give it another shot on something simple like Huevos Rancheros or something.

El caporal in Edinburg is literally the best place ever you can get 50 cent tacos with a variety to choose from or build your own plate to your liking, they make their own corn and flour tortillas, menudo, barbacoa, machacado and egg just some good food to name

Yeah buddy you get 2hrs plus south of san antonio, and stripes/laredo taco company beats out most places.

Pretty much anywhere in the valley/laredo will beat most of north, east, west, and central tx. wink

El milagro off N. St.Mary's st in san antonio is pretty impressive for breakfast tacos.

Sadly my two favorite Mexican Breakfast places are 5 hours away in Lubbock. #1 Jaliscos and #2 Montelongos.

As for DFW El Grande Burrito in Allen is the best, but I am still searching.

Monte's in Granbury. I used to really like Garcia's in Dilley but it's been a few years since I've had breakfast there.

If you want to know where the absolutely worst Mexican breakfast is, it's in Boston at the airport Hilton. Of course, you might ask who'd be stoopid enough to order that in Boston. Me! That's who is stoopid enough. Was just coming back from a vacation in Scotland, and I saw Huevos Mexicanos on the menu and I was crazed for Texas style food.

Toast, covered with scrambled eggs, which was covered with chili with beans, covered with shredded yellow cheese. My wife said "what, in God's name, did you order?".
