The ranch is 10k acres, we lease 5500 and the neighbor's 1k. We don't feed protien. We tried it for 5 years and didn't see a difference. Last year was my 18th year on the place. Good family place, pretty relaxed rules and a simple management program.

Had problems with folks aging deer, so we use a scoring system. 8 pointers have to be 120, 9 pointers 125 and 10 pointers 130. Hunters can take as many doe and culls as is legal and guests/family can shoot culls/does off their own tags. Does might be restricted a bit this year.

Based on your pictures, I'd say the managment is working. Those deer look to be 140-160 class, is that correct?

Found the cue ball. Now the grumbling is over the big deer we've been seeing after deer season. Where the hell was he in December?!

2 are in the 140's and 2 are in the 130's. They just took good pictures

Could have been like me. Biggest deer we had on camera last year was a nice 8 with a kicker off both G2's. Had him at 100 yards, but was waiting for it to get light enough that I could video him. Of course, he decided to leave about 3 minutes before good video light

I would have videoed him, then shot him. Would have been the biggest 8 pointer I would have killed to date

I can say a self centered member can certainly spoil the Hunting Season for all lease members. Individual was not invited to re-up for next season. Lease been down right enjoyable since.

I would say a it's between the no turkey rule and the no spikes rule.

Lease manager that had a rule that no one could put a new stand within 400 yards of an existing stand, and then blocked any effort someone made to put a stand within a half mile of his stand. It was a complete double standard, and on 930 acres it left the remaining 5 of us with some serious limitations for stand placements. It was a completely justifiable complaint. Needless to say, I am on a different lease now.

We have a great lease. Dad and I have shared it together for 24 years this year. He still manages the place along with his wife and we have one other hunter. We all do our part to enjoy the place year round and to make sure our hunting is successful ( meaning the realization that we're in Gods country killing a deer just makes it better)
We always see nice deer and used to have cameras. I think we don't use them anymore because for us, it spoils our hunt and we know whats out there. Everybody has their own blinds and stands and nobody hunts anyone else's. We never have any arguments or fussing about anything other than having to make it back to Ft.Worth before night fall for Supper. We have a great lease, great members and always great stories

The guy who kills any and everything that walks. Even the d@mn road runners. Just cant understand why one would put the time and money into a place, only to just eradicate it of everything but the mosquitoes.

cant remember a time iv been on a lease that I had an actual problem with someone... but I don't worry about what other people be doin and mind my own business so that could be part of it... I duno

Ain't no one leaving our place because of any issues except lost jobs. We have an opening because of that.
