I have a hunt booked in July and would like some info on this place from someone who has been there.
What type of hunting will it be? Sitting in a stand, spot and stalk , and do I need to bring pop ups, bait etc.
Any info is appreciated.

Ted, yes I am going the last week in July and we'll be camping in a pop up camper, so stop by and have a beer one evening.

Jimbo, I have some details from the owners, I just want more from someone who has been on the hunt out there and can be specific, and 3 days of hunting for $250 is enough to get me to go.

I will be there in July as well, I have not hunted there, but just got back from my local bow shop getting it tuned up a little after deer season and one of the guys there said he has been going there for over 10 yrs and has two hunts booked this year. Sounded like he really has enjoyed his trips in the past, he said, lots of game, just really HOT and nasty in July, but anyone thats ever even herd of Texas knows that much. I will be sure and post how it goes when i get back, as I am sure others will on this forum. He also said the owners/mgrs were really good people and he always has a good time. Good luck, see you down there.

Cool, you do the same. We will be in my travel trailer camping as well. When it gets closer I am going to post a thread so everyone will know who from here is going. Should be a blast.

I called them again today, I have been signed up since November for the hunt. They said that they let hunters choose their spots in order of height from tallest to shortest, so it looks like I will get the best spot on the ranch........

Sorry, my buddy Decker might be coming and he is 4-5 inches taller than you are. As a matter of fact another buddy of mine from the corn country wanted to come and I think you might be an inch shorter. He is 6'6". And I am hunting with one of those two!!

I'm gonna try first in June. Right now I'm having a hard time not going for a blackbuck at the end of March. Darn fine looking mounts.

I work hard, drink a little and hunt when I can.

I have been told a little info on this hunt. Is there a website that would give me some more info and booking info. Sounds good for 250.00 for a weekend.

Fayettefish,

The Baker is an AWESOME place...I went in January with a group we put together and its a great place. Bonnie and Lisa are so cool and easy going as long as you don't screw with them they won't screw with you. My cousin has been going there for years. Tent blinds help and you need to carry corn with you. The have some boxblinds for gun hunting, but i didn't see any hang ons for bowhunting....you might carry one to hang if you got one(myself and a few others did) you might not use it, but then again you might find a sweet spot that has a tree just screamin to hang a stand from....most of our kills were actually spot and stalk, but a few shot from tent blinds. AS soon as the let you outon the ranch, go put out corn so they will find it and get "used" to it being out.....I actually got lucky and dusk light was just right and I stalked up to mine at 30 yards and drilled him in the pump station....but the three other blackbucks that weekend were long shots....1 at 50, 1 at 60, and 1 at 70 yards....(that kid can shoot!!!) IF you have any questions, just ask....I can post the pics again if you or anyone else is interested....
