The lowest grade WASR10 AK's are worth at least $400 so + $700, that's at the minimum $1100.

I'm only being honest with you.... If the AK was anything besides a WASR, then it'll only be worth more.

Thank you very much for your honesty. I know now I that got ripped off and I learned a valuable lesson. I wanted a used AR ASAP for the trip that im taking in a couple of days and I didnt know enough about AR's. I had set the Polish AK (built by dave @ elite firearms) on here and I paid exactly $560 for it.

I regret this and feel really stupid. The good news is that the money lost in this deal isn't really hurting me much. WOw so if I wanted to sell my DPMS oracle, I will only get $600?

Now its time I do some upgrading and make the best out of the situation. What do you guys recommend me doing? I just want a reliable AR to take out on the range every month. I also want to do some hog hunting trips a few times a year. I will remove all of the junk accessories and replace them with what I need. I want a very lightweight AR with a decent scope. I dont need bipods or any fancy lasers.

Here are some aditional info on the gun I have.

Hog hunting side arm, is the 45 USP a good choice?

Well, the YHM flip up sight are not junk. Don't get rid of those. They are worth about $130-$150 new. I can't tell what the low profile gas block is and the quad rail does look like some off brand but I'm not sure. I'm pretty sure the bipod is UTG. I also can't really tell about the BCG without a pic from the top.

I would say ditch the quad rail, bipod, cheap reflex sight, and foregrip.

Then buy a MOE Handguard and a decent scope. This will make the gun lighter and look much better IMO.

The quad rail is DPMS brand and what is the low profile gas block?

I just threw the bipod, quad rail, reflex sight, sling and foregrip in the trash, since they aint worth a dime anyway. I am outfitting my AR tonite with Magpul grip, stock, handguard and trigger gaurd tonite. I might purchase an Eotech is there is one available.

Should I post my ammo for sale or is that pretty much a loss @ $300 as well?

Nothing wrong with that ammo.....its just not a good hunting round being FMJ. Its good plinking stuff though.

Keep the ammo for target shooting and buy some heavier soft points for hunting.

Good choice, magpul stuff is fairly cheap but awesome. You could always try and sell some of the cheap stuff you have. Someone might give you a bit for it. I don't know about the DPMS quad rail. Some things that are cheap are ok. It may be just fine. Heck if nothing else someone with a tacticool ruger 10-22 might offer you a bit for the cheap accessories.

Yeah I'd post the accessories on classifieds or craigslist. There's alot of airsoft ppl that would love it. I'm sure you can get a little $ out of the stuff.

Ammo is good to go.

DPMS is a good brand. I've shot quite a few DPMS rifles and never had any issues. I still have one of their lowers for another build I'm doing. You can easily switch out the grip, stock, triggerguard, forearm on the cheap. Check out DSGArms website. They have package deals on Magpul furniture. You can also pick your color black, fde, od, fg. Plus they're in Fort Worth so you'll get your stuff quick.

Change stock to magpul anything
Change handguard to magpul/daniel defense/troy/vtac/samson/rainier
Change out BCG to a Spikes or BCM
Put an Eotech or Aimpoint on it

Those are my main recommendations.

Thats what I ended up trading, the only WASR that I owned for the DPMS A2. It was a good one..LOTS of ammo had been put thru it but it was a great AK. Once the trade was made everyone was happy, and that's what counts.

Nice eotech and handguards. I really like them, but I hate my astigmatism.

That being said. OP, we've all had them. This was a learning experience for you. If your AK was indeed a Polish UF, the other person did take advantage of you. There is nothing wrong with the rifle and ammo you got - some of the accessories are meh..but what matters is if you are happy.

The lesson is always to know what you have and what you are buying. I doubt the seller will do anything to rectify the situation - typically a deal is a deal and the fellow certainly knew he was getting the better end of it - but it doesn't hurt to try.

Earl

Very well put sir.

The gun itself is a good gun, DPMS is entry level but for hog hunting thats all you need, you are taking it to battle.

The ammo is good atleast its not 1k steel rounds.

However all the accessories on the gun are probably either NCstar, Leapers, or UTG, these are all made for airsoft guns not real rifles. However alot of the stuff will fit a real gun and work, just not as good as the real thing.

Like someone else said sell all that chinese stuff and get you a good set of BUIS (back up iron sights) and shoot the heck out of it. You do have 1K rounds to blow through. slinger

EDIT: Sorry I must have missed this entire page... You obviously know what you are doing now great upgrades looks awesome now go kill some piggies.

I highly recomend a 10 round mag from DPMS and I'd dump the front vertical grip unless you just like it.

I see one big giant smear, with no real center. My glasses help, but it is really distracting.

I looked through an aimpoint today, it was a little streaky, but nowhere near as busy.

I was thinking I'd stick to a 1-4 optic, but I might start saving for an aimpoint after all.

Nice DPMS! Mine is a DMPS Oracle upper. It is a tack driver with no issues and over 500+ rounds of that ole nasty cheap Russian steel ammo through it!
