No one metnioned the Makarov in 9x18. Very affordable, very nice looking, very accurate and dependable, good for concealed carry, and they have good history to them. I just bought an E. German Makarov.

The only concern would be availability of ammo and the price of said ammo in certain areas. My Bulgarian as not malfunctioned once since I bought it several years ago. I can not say the same for my other pistols. Definably one of my favorites.

You know it. I was trying to stay within the parameters set. Glocks are fine guns, I could live with XP's or M&Ps' as well if they were issued to me. Heck, even Beretta's and HK's...
I always had the chance to carry a Sig. I started with a Smith MOdel 19. Then a 66. Then a Colt Series 80 1911. Then a Smith Model 469 even. But once I had that Sig P226 all others were hard to compare. I have done a lot of trial and error comparisons, and some relatively scientific ones. I think I have shot every major handgun out there todya.
When cost is no object for a self-defense handgun, very few ever choose something instead of a Sig. Sig's don't lose competitions except on price.
Only possible change I'd consider today would be caliber. But I stay with 9mm. My wife carries a P228. Interchangeable mags are nice (we hide the extra 13's, her spares are 15's too). My son really likes the 1911. But push come to shove, get one, he'd be dragging the P226 with him.
Not knocking anyone else's choice. I want everyone to be confident with what they carry. Find something you like, that works every stinking time with whatever you run through it, and practice like heck...

I own Sigs, Glocks and an HKP2000. I carry the Glock 26 9mm and my second choice would be the G19 or G23. I own 7 or 8 Glocks. My Sig (229) is heavy and I don't like the DA/SA trigger for a carry gun. I think Sigs are great but there lots of people that aren't concerned with price that carry other guns. The XD is a fad IMO. It isn't used by any military or any major police departments (last time I checked anyway). So, pick a Glock that is in service by the millions or an XD in service no where. Easy choice in my book.

I've never liked Smith autos. Feel clunky and too many parts. I'd go glock out of that list if there's one that fits your hand well. A 1911 style weapon without all the extra junk on the xd would be my preference. Sigs are nice, too.
She was only a whiskey maker, but he loved her still.

I guess you have to be a real gun nut to catch that reference.

SIG p226 .357 or for concealment sig 239 .357. this is what i carry everyday. Sig motto is" to hell and back." a little bit more expensive but worth it. i trust my life to the reliability of this gun

I have a XD40 sub compact that I purchased for CHL. I love it.
One thing I have learned is it's not comfortable to conceal it to carry every day...I'm thinking about purchasing a small gun I can carry in my front pocket like a kal tec p-32.

That is what I said in the second post. It is hard to live with a big pistol all day everyday stuck in your clothes. I carried for the last 8 years and I went from a taurus p-99, to a sig 229, to a taurus p-140, and now I am going to the kel-tec p-32. I can carry that little gun all the time.

I just bought a Kahr CW40 a love it. I have always carried a 1911 until now. Great gun for the price and best of all 100 percent made in the U.S.A. Do a search for Kahr reviews and you will see everybody gives it 5 stars.
