There's options for it, just gotta know if you have a 4.4 center feed action or the 4.275 stagger feed, and which ever you got the savage stocks to match will work. Bell and Carlson, Boyd's, hs, McMillan, manners and so on, just depends on how much you want to spend. Krylon is a lot cheaper.

Just something with a reasonable price that looks better than the cheap grey stock

if i measure from middle of screw to middle of screw it is almost 4.5 inches so I am assuming its 4.4. is that the correct way to measure it?

I don't remember if the duramaxx from bell and Carlson comes for a sporter barrel but I think you can get them for about a hundred bucks

Here's some. Boyd's

Yea the only gun I own that hasn't been kryloned is my wife's cz 527, and I just can't paint that pretty wood stock.

What do you shoot out of yours? I've got a Stevens 7mm-08 too and I've been shooting Hornady Custom Lite 120 gr and it shoots decent, not a tack driver though. I'm gonna try the Federal Fusion 140gr next as I've heard that they shoot good in these guns. I've modded me Stevens up and its a sweet rifle.

I have 2 Stevens 200 and both are good shooters. You can also get a Ramline stocks from cabellas as far as stock replacements. Cost is around $100, I think Sportsmanguide carries them too.

Nobody either believes me, or looks at me like I must be crazy, but I shoot a 160Gr SGK out of mine. The same bullet I use in my 7mag.

I can't remember the exact load of hand, but I know it's Varget powder with Winchester LR primers and Rem brass. It groups incredibly well and hits like a bomb, everything I've shot, deer, pig, yote, has been DRT. It even punched through two pigs (about 60lbs each) and exited the second piggie.

Thank you for your businesscheers PM if you need any help.

The bottom metal is from CDI Precision Gunworks. It's a great BM, I really have no complaints. Plus, the owner Jeff is a great guy.

I guess I need to find someone who can load me some rounds, I'm gonna try the Federal Fusions 140gr and if they don't shoot less than an inch then I'll look elsewhere. I really like the Hornady Custom Lite's in the 120gr, they kick like a .223. Just wish they were a bit more accurate.

The 120g Barnes is the only bullet I could get to group well out of that odd twist they put on that Stevens. I considered putting on a new barrel so I could shoot cheaper bullets but buying a 300 dollar barrel to save .05 cents a round is pretty stupid.

I've seen the BLK barrel mentioned here a few times; Gunshack has two group buys going on right now.

GB 1 is for the BLK in Stainless Steel with the much requested Varmint contour: Link

GB 2 is for a Chrome Moly Sporter contour: Link

PM myself or 260 Rem if y'all need any detailsup

they will but they dont have the same recoil lug as the other savage guns. The recoil lug is in the stock not on the action.

Small shank Savage barrels are also the same as the Mossberg ATR barrels, so you have another option for a cheap host action.

I have a Stevens 200 in .270 that I bought from my FIL. Was still new in the box with a Bushnell 3~9X40 I got it for $250 with 3 boxes of ammo. He got it for a birthday present, but dosen't care for bolt guns.
I HATE the plastic stock that comes on these things... reminds me of the plastic they use on Little Tykes toys!
First thing I did was pull the stock off. I filled in the webbing in the forearm and butt with 2 part epoxy.. the grey stuff. That cured the horrible flex and added a bit of weight.
Then used a can of the Krylon Grey textured paint.
It is a vast improvement over what it was and it looks and feels much better too.
It was good enough for 2 Rio's and a 4 point meat deer. Shot the deer lengthwise from front to back at 120 yds. Bullet path was below the spine. I have seen quite a few good shots on deer but this one dropped like a load of bricks ...DRT

I just ordered a Stevens 200 in 22-250 from Jerry at Rednek Booda. I bought for my 6yo girl for her first centerfire gun, have some fun poping some hogs with. If she proves herself might even let her neck shoot a doe with it.

Anyway one of my concerns is also the stock. I wanted a Duramazz but I think you can only get those in a varmint barrel. I have used Boyds before, but were concerned they would add too much weight.

How much weight did filling in the hollows of the stock add. Might do that and have pink webbing added to the stock.

I bought one of the Academy 7mm-08 Stevens 200's for $179 last year. Wish I would have bought the .270 too. Anyway, here is what I did and it handles very nicely and is much more solid feeling. I actually like the factory stock.

Remove the action/barrel. Remove the kick pad. I inserted probably 6oz of triangle fishing weights to the stock and then filled it with expanding foam from a can. When it cured, I trimmed the excess of with a razor blade and put the kick pad back. Be careful with the expanding foam, it will expand, then expand, then expand some more. Then I took some additional lead split shot (fishing) and put it in the forearm. Probably 2oz more weight. I used 3M 5200 and filled the little slots where the lead weight was in the forearm and let it cure. The last thing I ddi was to camo the stock with Krylon Fusion camo paint. The stock is quiet solid and substantial now and it took a lot of kick out o fthe gun.

have an ugly stevens 200 tackdrivin 7mm-08, put a beautiful Boyds walnut stock on it, now have a beutiful cheap, tack drivin rifle that comes out of the safe way before some of my high dollar rifles ( and I got lots of em.) Stevens 200 reminds me of the Remington 788s, cheap accurate rifle that put their higher priced rifles to shame.

If you can find the right stock for your rifle I really like the Hoage overmold stocks. I have seen them online, but they are a bit pricey$$

Just bought one last week, did a post on it yesterday. 22-250 awesome accuracy, stock is junk and trigger is horrible. I can fix those.
