I spoke with him and set up at time to meet him in Young county. Whent to pk to stay at my place and he never called or answered his phone . He called back a month later adn told me he had five hundred for lease and he wanted six guns at 1500. I laughed and told hime no thanks

I met him on Sunday...well kinda. He told me he was headed to Graham and would meet me at the Subway. He wasn't there on time and gave me directions to the lease. He didn't show up there on time and the landowner came out and, asked what I was doing. The landowner was nice enough to show me around which is what this guy was supposed to be doing. He finally showed up and told me how to get to the second lease I was going to look at so I could see it before dark. I went, but wasn't sure where to drive on the lease. Not real sure if I was even on the right property. I then drove back to Graham and had to wait on him again...he was down there to pay his landowners and wasn't real concerned about showing me anything. I will not be calling him back. Wasted 80 bucks on gas and an entire Sunday. Not to mention a two hour drive back in the snow!

I received an email from this guy off a craigslist ad I have in looking for a lease, so he's still out there. Googled his name and a link to this thread came up! Thanks to THF for good info on the bad guys!

There are things you can do to a lieing land owners leese etc its called injunctions you can file injunctions on thes ranchers and they cant even hunt the ranches its a good payback!!!

These are the reasons I started hunting Mexico 30 years ago and Iam still there!!!

I have been contacted by this guy several times. If you put an ad on Craigslist looking for a place you will get a call from him.

Mexico is the only way to go!

I have always leased from the land owner only, do not use a broker/middleman. But then again I might have just been lucky all these years

I just dealt with one of these IDIOTS! when it got down to the details I asked to meet the land OWNER when I came out to view the property and the Lease broker REFUSED to allow that! HUGE RED FLAG! hunting lease brokers don't give a DAMN about anything but making a profit! they will LIE, CHEAT & STEAL to get you to sign on the dotted line. and after you sign the agreement and pay your money your SCREWED! if all of us would go back to the old fashioned way of doing business, knocking on doors or calling local game wardens for leads then we could put these guys out of business....

Thanks for the info. Best bet is check with prior lease members for their input on brokers, lease, landowners, why they left, ect. I have been fortunate in most of my choices but also have had some bad experiences. Unfortunately we love to hunt and it clouds our judgement when looking for a new spot. Posts like this are painful for the hunter on both sides. THF is one way to protect each other from the 5%ers that give everyone else a bad name and experience.

For any of you looking in South Texas beware of a broker by the name of Abraham Benavides out of Rio Hondo, TX. Real sum bag. Claims to have access to all these properties and ends up over booking them and pocketing a lot of money as well.

I know this is an old one to resurrect but looks like he’s positing on Craigslist for 150 ac in Graham. I spoke with him just now, then Googled the name.. I remember reading this when Lonnie first posted it.. None the less just wanted to bring this to everyone’s attention..

Talked to him about this place too. Said he just kicked the guy off that leased it but gave no explanation. And there will be dove hunters on it. And $3K for 150 acres!
