i dont care what anyone says but when i nap i see deer when i dont nap no deer. i nap and snore aka grunt call as loud as i can. wake up well rested and make a good shot.

Just take a nap and enjoy it. If anything it will allow to stay in the blind longer.

Years ago I used to hunt down on Ft. Hood. Fell asleep in my stand, & when the guides drove up, they had to wake me...... I felt pretty stupid too, but it was a great nap!!!

Closing weekend I ate 2 huge helpings of aunt jessie's apple pie before our evening hunt. Got in the stand and passed smooth out. I woke up and there were 12 deer out. Shot, dropped, and dressed and back at the camp for more apple pie!

You could do what my dad used to do. He'd take along a pre-teen to teenage semi-hyper boy and tell the boy to wake him up if he started snoring too loudly or if any deer showed up. Of course any similarities to the hypothetical young man and a younger version of myself are purely coincidental.

Just make sure you place yourself between the kid and the gun, and don't let him drink any coffee as this will cause him to climb down to pee every 15 minutes and hinder the napping efforts.

Of course, there is a steep feed bill that comes with this technique but can you really put a dollar value on a good nap?

I'm so glad to hear I'm not the only one who enjoys a nap in the blind.

To hunt deer, I have to wake up 4 hours earlier than usual so my sleep debt is huge by the 2nd or 3rd morning.

I was in a run down stand with my grandson this season. The windows are plywood and stay up by friction in some grooves. I was in dozing mode and my grandson was playing a game on his ipod when the friction released. It sounded like someone hit the side of the blind with a bat.

We were both very alert for the next hour or so.

That is the best sleep ever, in the blind.

Get more rest before hand.

I have one tripod blind that I have a full enclosure on. I added a shooting rail because the tripod rail,is too low for me. Then I discovered that I can lean forward, put my arms on the rail, cradle my head in my arms, ..you get the picture.
