I think that quite a few hunters would opt to hunt earlier also if they were to even try to restrict the early season to another weapon only.

If you really want to introduce more young people to the sport, it makes a lot more sense to create a single, early season that allows kids to use a rifle, bow, or primitive weapon. Don't hide behind your head start to hit the woods and try to say it's best for the kids.

If a kid wants to learn how to hunt, he/she shouldn't be forced to choose between a gun or bow in order to be the first to hit the woods.

I am not hiding behind anything. I was a grown man when I picked up the bow for the first time, not a kid. I was just stating that it's a cycle. Had the season not been longer maybe I would have never tried it...who knows. But it was, and I did, and now my kid loves it too.

I have to be honest here... I did not think you would be one of the ones to chime in with the unfair argument. confused2

I honestly think it's fair since even a 4yo could hunt with a xbow and a 100yo could too. It's just not something I want the deer we have to deal with; everyone understands, I have a strong backing and everyone has other places to hunt.

My choice would be a season that begins without restrictions, with a two-week period somewhere in the middle that restricts hunters to using EITHER a bow or primitive firearm.

And that's a valid opinion, but not what the thread is about. If you think it's "unfair" for bowhunters to be able to hunt October then please state what it is that makes it unfair to the people that choose not to.

The answer should be obvious. Giving any specific group early access to a resource gives them an advantage over others. If the roles were flipped, rifle hunters would have an advantage given an early season that restricted the use of bows.

Again, the advantage gained is what drives the market for what is necessary to participate.

You're missing the point sir. There is no specific group gaining access to anything that anybody else in the state does not have access to. If the roles were flipped the bow hunters would buy a rifle! You have the same opportunity to hunt October that I do, you simply choose not to.
