Thinking way back and some of the rifles/handguns that are now gone and I wish I still had. Two, a 44 mag Marlin Lever and a Remmy 270 BDL, gone to the pawn shop. My dad gave me those two rifles brand new. Times were hard, so I had to pawn them, and never had enough money to get them back. More sentimental value then anything. I really do miss those 2 rifles and wish I never would have had to do that.
I remember telling my dad what I did and broke down in tears when I told him. He worked his arse off and he/we didn't have much of anything, money included. I could only imagine how hard he had worked as a custodian to buy me those rifles. He knew how much I loved firearms and hunting. He knew times had to be desperate for me to have done that.
Anything you miss??

Did the exact same thing with a Marlin 39A that my Dad gave me. Sold it in College when rent & tuition came due and I was busted. Regretted it ever since.

I had a Browning A-Bolt Medallion in 375H&H with open sights and no BOSS on it. Sold it so I could put a down payment on a 4-wheeler. I'd like to have that one back.

In 1968 I bought a Remington 788 in 243 with a scope. I was 12 and my dad had to sign the forms so I could get it. Paid for it from work I had done around the house and my paper route. Killed my first several deer with it. Sometime around 1976 I traded it for a gun I never liked. Dang it I wish I had it back!!!

In 1980 when I was 18 yrs. old I bought a brand new 6" S&W model 586, 357 right after the L frames first came out for $230. I bought it at Noble Firearms on N. Beach in Ft. Worth. Yes, you could buy a handgun at 18 back then. I sold it 15 yrs. ago and have kicked myself ever since.

I've sold two I have regretted since the day I let them go; a Weatherby Accumark 257 Wby mag, and a Remington 788 in 223. I have since replaced the Accumark, but haven't been able to get back the 788.

My dad bought me a Rem 700 BDL 30-06 when I was 12 (1972). Traded it for a shiny bull barrel 700 in 22-250 you couldn't hit the broad side of a barn with. I detest Remingtons but I wish I had it back just because

Several....a Colt Frontier Scout that my dad gave me, it was stolen out of my truck. A SKB SXS and an A Bolt that I pawned way back and never had the bucks to pick them up....I'm sure most all of us have regrets about turning a few loose...:/

My ex wife stole my Remington 870 Express youth magnum 20 ga when we got divorced. It was at her folks in the safe. SHe claims she knows not where it went. My dad worked hard to buy it for me for christmas when I was around 9 or 10.

I had a Ruger Blackhawk, 3 screw in .357 that had an extra 9mm cylinder. Sold it to my cousin for a Ruger DA .357, when I was a cop in Kansas. That DA had the worst trigger pull of any gun I've ever had. Many a time I've wished for the Blackhawk back.
Had a single shot Winchester .22 boy's model, (I think it was a model 67) that got stolen when my truck was stolen. Truck was stopped going into Mexico and I got my BP uniforms, all my leather and personal effects back, but the little rifle didn't make it.
Had a Colt Mustang .380 I carried as a backup. Loved that little gun, but ended up hocking it and never got it back. Waiting to see what the new version does.

I have sold several when my kids where younger to make ends meet. Still, the one I should have never sold was a Winchester model 70 in 30-06.

Memorial Day weekend 1988 some scum-bag(s) broke into my home while we were away for the weekend and stole all of my guns. None were especially valuable but irr-replacable: .410 Stevens single shot that my older brothers and I learned to shoot with; Remington b/a .22 that Dad bought me for Christmas when I was 13; 870 12 ga. Dad bought me when I turned 15; Winchester Mod 70 Featherweight in .280 Rem that I acquired via two trades plus a year's worth of rat-holed spare $$$. It still makes me sick to think about it. I took the insurance check and bought another rifle and shotgun and to this day I don't like either one.... I've always suspected I knew the family of thieves but could never prove anything and the local law gave a good effort but just never could catch 'em... Some beaches.
So she says "sure Honey, I agree, you DO need a new deer rifle..." And that, boys, is how I ended up with new living room furniture!

Oh, and one more regret. I once traded for a 1954 Winchester model '94. It was in great shape, locked up tight, shot straight, felt like a million bucks, but I just had no need for a 30-30. I didn't keep it long and ended up trading it. A couple of other trades later and that gun is now a Rem 788 in .222 that is an absolute tack driver. Still miss the ol' '94.

I am lucky enough not to have had to sell or trade any of my guns. Still have the first shotgun, rifle and pistol that my dad bought for me and still use them all.
My dad told me a long time ago not to get rid of any of my guns because I would regret selling them. He still misses quite a few that he had sold.

Only one (so far). She was a Winchester model 70 featherweight in .243 . She was the first gun that my folks gave me. My wife and I had been married about a year and just like most newly weds times were tough. I sold her to my neighbor at the time , way to cheap. As soon as I walked back across the street to my house , I knew that I had screwed up. I ran into the guy a few years ago and asked him if he still had/ wanted to sale her back to me but he had traded her off.

Remington model 7 in .243 that I sold to get a new rifle. It was the gun that my dad traded his 44mag DE so I could have a hunting rifle. Also my TC Encore but I sold that to put a ring on the Mrs' hand but it had no sentimental value so I can replace that.

I'm not much for getting rid of guns but I did let a Ruger #3 in 22 Hornet and a Sako Forester in 243 get away. When your fixing to have a baby some thing gotta go.
