Check out Birdmanstudios.com. Todd has lots of poses. You can get ideas of standing or flying. Also consider using him. It's very easy and no up front deposit. I had two done just a couple months ago and just sent him a pintail as well. His turn around time is about 11 months which is normal for someone that does good work.
Also just my opinion but make sure your bird has a nice sprig otherwise you may regret spending the money. If nothing else freeze the bird and wait till enc of season or you can ship to Todd and he will hold it. If you shot a better one he will look at both and mount the best one.

Here's mine. It's not a huge sprig but he's got some nice bling which was my first and last.

The Pintail is the aristocrat of the duck world(JMHO) and tend to look their best with a standing mount. Before everyone gets their panties in a wad, I know there are more colorful ducks and hard to find ducks. It is that they have just the right amount of simplicity of color contrast balanced with grace on the water and in flight.

Checkout some websites like avianarts.com or birdworks.com you will find what you want from looking at some of their mounts. Good luck..

Here is the pinner that my girl, Kendall, shot a few seasons ago. It was her first sprig and it is a hoss. Brazosboyt here on the forum mounted it for her in celebration of her first pintail.

I would have recommended Birdworks as well but don't think he is taking birds still which can be bad as he losses his client base. I had two birds done with him but since he stopped taking birds it will be hard to go back since Birdmanstudios doesn't require a deposit.

Many folks put pintails at the top of their collection lists and it's easy to see why.

Roc, I'm glad I had the opportunity to do some of your birds and enjoyed having you as a client. Not taking any new work right now was the right decision to allow me to tackle the backlog. I'm also happy and relieved that you've found Todd at Birdman. He does great work.

I've always been blessed with more work than time. I had to stop taking work back in '99 as well to get caught up..it's just the cycle of my bird shop I suppose. My small business guy says I need to raise my prices, but I've never wanted to prevent the working man from getting his (or more imporantly his kid's) birds mounted because of price. With that said,I am happy to say my back log is gonna be back under 12 months after Jan smile I hope everyone is having a great season. - Matt

Thanks for all the input. Those are some great mounts. I think I'm gonna do a standing mount. I like the way those display the wings.

Hi All,

I guess this is as good a thread as any to file a first post....

Pat at Avian-arts mounted this guy for me. He did a great job and I get nothing but compliments on the work. avianarts.com

No pic, but I think the best looking mount for a Sprig is showing them flying straight upwards with their back facing you. Then have the head cocked to the side.
