The price is not the important deal. Satisfaction is, if your not happy with this job. Request them to fix it, not a quality job IMO.

I'll fix it for you for free. I don't know where you are located but anywhere near DFW I will help you. Just PM me. Thank you brother... Tell me where you're located and I'll be there. I'll pay you for the work, I just want it to look decent on my wall.. Thanks again for everyone's input.. Just like I thought, not quality work.

Why not return it to the taxidermist who did the work? Tell him you paid a premium fee for shoddy work. Taxidermy is a service industry and, as a business man, he will want to make his customers happy if he wants to stay in business. It would be a simple matter to stain the antlers to your satisfaction.
Give the guy a chance to keep a customer.

That is unacceptable, especially for that price. They are charging more than premium prices for very poor quality work. The antlers should not be like that around the bases. Bleach or something messed them up. You should get 150 of that back, or I would threaten to badmouth them up and down!

I would return it and have them fix it since they did a poor job and charged you a premium.

not good at all. The skull doesn't look bad (could be better) but the discolored antlers are a big eye sore.
He should have touched them up and stained them back to original color.
I would not be happy. $200?? Damn, I need to raise my prices!

Bulldog, I agree. I thought that was high myself. I feel bad for anyone who gets work back like this.

$200!!! That is steep! I get mine done for $85. I would not be happy with that mount, no attention to detail.

+1 I've tinkered with this. Still trying to get my setup the way I like it but it works and works well. The H2O2 fumes will also discolor the antlers. I just plan on staining them anyway so I'm not to particular.

Just so we are clear I did NOT do this. I am offering to help him. I would never give someone a skull that looks like that. I don't want my name near this work

I do euros only. Not professionally, but 20-50 every winter. I would NEVER send a product home that looked that bad, and I charge $100! It was left too deep and too long in the boil pot. Some antlers are just lighter, so it happens some times. Easy fix though. All you need is a little antler or wood stain. If you were closer, I'd tell you to bring it over. I could fix it for you in 6-8 minutes. Sorry you got a bad deal.

I really don't think I'm trying to undercut my buddy he does it for a living and he's gets several mounts from processors in the area I do them because I like to do them I don't do them to make a lot of money.

man I wouldn't pay to have it done myself but if I didn't know how to do them myself and I did pay I would be P.O'd def. bleached your antler's. Look's like two shed's on a skull that sux man sorry. That guy in lake worth will do an awesome head shoulder mount for $300 and he does a good job. Byrom was his name! My mount from him still look's as good as it did in 2008!
