Ask Bobo, they're the best thing since sliced bread and 10x better than happy hour.

I've used a pair of Steiner Marine 7x50's for the last 8 or 10 years....and still love them. In my opinion, individual eye focus is an absolute MUST for binoculars.

I probably need to buy a smaller pair to use while stalking, but whatever I buy.....you can bet your butt they will be Steiners.

I'll agree with you on this one. Porro prism binos will get as good as anything the Swaro will offer in roof prisms, you just have to accept the extra weight. I have a pair of military West German 7X50's with range finding stadia courtesy of Uncle Sam that I'll keep forever.

I also tote around a pair of '80s model aus jenas that are pretty sweet. Those are usually the pair that sits on the dashboard and get beat around. Once thought they were getting blurry on me, then I realized how much sand was on my dash grin

Minox BVII 10x42.

I carry a gun because I'm too young to die, and too old to take a whoopin!

Leica's when I'm hunting and I leave a pair of Steiner's in my Ranger for any time I'm in the pasture driving around.

Here's the deal on binos

It's not about the brand or the power it's about the prism type. There are basically two types of bino's, Porro prism and roof prism. Porros have the dog leg look on the eyepiece as it attaches to the objective tube. Porros give the best image quality for the buck and are usually much cheaper. However they are heavier, harder to waterproof and generally not as tough. Don't ever buy a light pair of poros. Heavier is always better which translates into much tougher construction.
Roof prisms have the eyepiece in a straight line with the objective lens. As a rule they have anywhere from 10 to 20% less quality image than Porros until you get into the Swaro and similiar makes which don't give up much. They're also lighter and much tougher except in the cheaper brands and are always more expensive. There is nothing worse than a cheap porro and you don't even into the decent ones till the 600 to 800 buck range.
If you're a stand hunter porro's make more sense. You'll get more bang for buck, just don't drop them or get them wet. Roof prism's are wonderful if you're on a hump and are worrying about just about every ounce of weight you're carrying. Porro's can be very tough but they have to be heavy to be that way. Rule of thumb. Heavier is better with porro's and expensive if better with roof prisms.

Same old Zeiss 10x42's I been using for 20 plus years, they'll make far longer than I ever will.

Yes! A Weatherby does kill them deader.
