No "victim blaming" here but I will say that it is best practice not to leave anything in the vehicle of value if entirely possible. That being said, I certainly realize that there are certain circumstances that would prohibit one from doing the above mentioned practice (for example, stopping at the store on the way out of town for a hunting trip). This being said, I see both sides of the argument.

But please, let’s not go speaking ill of someone’s choice of college. It's just bad form.

FIFY

x2. Had two ARs stolen out of my truck in front of my office. FWPD officer said locked and cased guns taken out of a locked truck was not my fault.

It's not his fault the truck was broken into, however it's his fault they were stolen.

I have had my truck broken into several times although none of them had guns stolen they did take sound equipment and if your thinking a bike lock is going to stop them your DREAMING!!!!!

I had 2-12" speakers mounted down with a 5/8" bolt and they cut it with a sawzaw at 1pm on a movie theater parking lot on a Sat. bottom line if they want it they WILL get it.

I love internet tough guys.

Your analogy isn't going to work. He had an opportunity to remove his guns from the equation entirely, but didn't.

And no, I'm not just tough in cyber space. How many gunfights have you been in?

How so? Was he supposed to walk into Academy with firearms in hand? Maybe check them at the door? That is laughable at best.

So he couldn't leave them at home? Your lack of reasoning is what's laughable.

Gentlemen, I am in no way blaming the OP. Scum can just as easily break into your house as they can your car. With that said understand that vehicles only take about 5 seconds to enter. They are not secure. There are thieves among us. They watch the obvious targets like Academy, Cabelas and the like. It's pretty easy to pick out which vehicles are traveling to or from the lease. It's pretty obvious that those vehicles will contain firearms. They're obvious targets. Take precautions.

Nope, it's your wife's fault for driving off with all your valuables. Good for her, and good choice. laugh

I laughed when I read this one. Using DDs logic, you should have used Fed Ex... Or just never send stuff through the mail. Because if it weren't for you needing to mail something, it never would have happened. bolt

Could've left them at home, or yes used fed-ex where you can carry.

Laughable!

You're basically saying glass is just as strong as steel.

If he left the window down, keys in it, radio playing, and a flashing light on each gun, it's still the thief's fault.

It's a sad commentary on society that we blame the person who had his guns stolen from his vehicle, rather than the criminal who took them. I prefer the days of leaving your keys in the truck, doors open, etc.

It's even more of a shame that someone else didn't see them, report them, or shoot them while breaking into the truck.

Sure, everyone takes precautions, but the bait and trolling in this one is too thick to even be believable.

Not quite. I'm saying a gun can be secure behind steel. It can also be secure behind glass. However, theft is theft. And with that- I'm out of this one.

Best of luck to the OP.

If he left them at home would they have been stolen?

where should of i put them

Cable lock through the gun and seat frame. Do it anytime I have rifles and stop somewhere. Or just go home first.

C'mon man...cable lock, really? You think that's going to stop somebody?
