I have a 16" CMMG upper. It is THE quietest gun I have in my arsenal shooting subs with the can on. I couldn't be happier with the performance, this is the round I have been wanting for a LONG time. To me ammo is pretty cheap when I compare a $40 box of 308 or $50 box of 7mm mag. I purchased my subs for 0.74 per round, or just a little less than $15 per 20, to me that's cheap in todays shooting world. I also have some hunting rounds the AAC pink tip that were a little more, bought 120 rounds for right around $100 from Midway with a coupon. I'm even contemplating getting rid of my 223 upper as I now feel it is obsolete and won't really be used. When I finally get everything squared away for my SBR I will be getting another 300blk upper with a 9" barrel.

As Varget 7-08 mentioned, I will soon have Savage barrels available in 300 Blackout. These will have 5/8-24 muzzle threads so you can add a suppressor if desired. If you are interested you should put in a pre-order as I only have a limited quantity that will be in production: http://www.gunshack.com/groupbuy?product_id=164Regards, Lance

300BLK is a luxury cartridge IMO, I'm starting to put the 6.8 in the same boat. I think I'm going with a simple Bushmaster 7.62x39 upper instead of all that expensive hardware and ammo. I hate reloading for semi-autos, I'm to lazy to make enough ammo to have a good time at the range; and to cheap to buy it for 6.8 or 300blk. At least that's the way I feel today.

You do realize that all you need is a 300 BLK barrel and all your 5.56 stuff will work with it right? Also, the ammo is mostly being made from once fired 223 brass if I understand correctly. This makes it a cheap way to shoot a 30 caliber bullet WITHOUT spending a bunch of money I.E. a new upper.

I know, it uses the 5.56 lower, but the uppers are generally more expensive; exception being the cmmg. But I cannot buy bulk ammo for 300blk at Cabelas for cheap. I have no intention of running suppressed either. But believe me my minds not made up until i make a purchase, and even then sometimes still not done 6.5 grendel is another of what I consider luxury cartridge, but the ballistics of the 6.5 may make me actually want to reload for that round to see what I can make it do.

I'm going to use my 300BLK to hunt w/. better ballitics than 6.8 and 7.62x39. hunting ammo for only 16-19 a box or $82 per 100 round from custom reloads of dallas. only thing different from .300 and 5.56 ARS is the actual barrel everything is exactly the same, bolt and everything.
not to mention i'll be using a much lighter to carry 11.3" barrel instead of the 18" 6.8 upper i have now.
I agree w/ you on the 6.5 grendel, thats a luxury round, but none the less a BA cartridge.
signature coming soon

What's the ave. FPS for this round? On pg. 1 it showed 2,186 fps. Is that normal for this round???????? I know the 110 TSX needs 1,800 fps to open properly & if that's the situation w/the 110 TTSX then your game better be VERY close or it isn't gonna work very well @ all.

I'd say 1050fps is the desired velocity for this round. Yes, 2100fps sounds about right for a light .308" bullet. Remember, it's basically a shortened .223 case. That's a 220gr bullet that is seated way too high (just for reference).

When shooting subsonic rounds suppressed, all you hear is the bolt carrier cycling! That's it. It's a round that you can hunt with, with big 208 A-max and 220 grain bullets! It's awesome!

But a 110gr .308 going 2,100fps is slow as hell.

Just did a bunch of reading up on the 300BLK because I never knew much about it. From what I've read, if your gonna use/need a can, then the 300BLK is a good one. If not, don't waste your money. $.02

If not, don't waste your money. $.02 While subsonic performance is its main attraction, it still is a nice option as a short range deer gun (sub-300 yards) if one wants to hunt with an AR. Ballistically similar to 6.8SPC without the need for different BCG/magazines. It's no 6.5 Grendel but it's also much cheaper. And no, 1050fps isn't enough to expand but using a suppressor isn't legal for game anyways. It will still kill the pigs even if they won't die on the spot.

I built mine INSTEAD of another 7.62x39 AR, then the bonus of a quite 30 cal.(Can on order) I have taken ALOT deer and hogs with my 6.5 Grendel, .50 Beowulf,7.62x39,243WSSM,and of course .223 ARs. The 3 piggies taken with my first 300 BLK was 125 grain SP at 2100 fps. dead right there! My deer this year was with the Grendel with 120 Nosler Ballistic tip.

+1 DSA upper for $320 and use your existing BCG!

If not, don't waste your money. $.02 It depends if you consider 7.62x39mm adequate. 300 BLK has 16.7% more energy at 300 meters than an AK shooting the $61 a box hot Lapua ammo - but holds 30 rounds in a normal AR magazine and uses the normal bolt. It becomes better than AK ammo because of the special loads coming out for it. And it is way cheaper than 6.8 both as loaded ammo, and for brass. $12.99 ammo is already shipping: http://www.300blktalk.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=151&t=78183
