Considering Nikon M-223 scope and I can get BDC 600, the Rapid Action Turret or both. I'm specifically looking at the 2-8x32 and the 3-12x42; I'm leaning towards the 3-12x42 because it's only 6oz more weight. Has anyone used these scopes?

Looks like I can get the bdc 600 reticle OR the Rapid action turret for $100 cheaper than both. I'm leaning towards just the reticle.

The turret is designed for the 55gr cartridge, which is why I'm thinking about saving the $100. It does look like a nice turret though.

The BDC reticle has intermediate (50y) graduation hash marks and can be calibrated for any cartridge or caliber using free Nikon Spot-On software.

I've been thinking the same thing. I'm interested to see some opinions too but it looks pretty nice and user friendly as well.

I watched some videos of guys using the M-223 to shoot various ranges and I have heard that it is a great scope for AR's just like the Leupold Mark AR. I didn't want to buy either one because I don't like the fact that the scope is designed only for 55gr bullets, because I often shoot a heavier bullet when hunting, and that would require me to get different turrets, which was more than I wanted to spend.

I also did not care for the Nikon BDC. The circles irritate me. I shot one on a Rem 700 in .308 at the range and did not like the circles because I found it difficult to place the circle over the bullseye and be as precise as I wanted to be.

I ended up going with the Vortex Diamondback 3.5-10x50 with the Dead hold BDC reticle and I have been very pleased with it. The Dead Hold BDC is awesome and the range finding capabilities are very nice. It also has zero reset turrets which are pretty nice. It is perfect for my AR, and considering the price, I'm very thrilled with it.

Thats just my opinion. If you're going to shoot 55 gr only, I think it would be a great choice.

You are correct that the Rapid Action Turrets are designed around the 55 gr. .223 at 3240 fps. The BDC will let you shoot whatever weight you want to and using Nikon's Spot On Ballistic Program dial the circles into your shooting data. I have used the BDC with others to hit 4 in. jars of Tannerite at 623 yards. Does it take some getting used to if you have never used a system like this, sure. Just like with any scope, range time is also important to maximize accuracy. I have this scope also on a Savage .223 and love it for long range prairie dog shooting. I recently returned home from a deer hunting trip in Ks. where prior to going I taught my 76 year old fater in law how to use the BDC reticle for aiming. He harvested a nice buck and 2 doe, all one shot stops.
My suggestion, try to find some place that has nmerous choices and then pick the scope that fits your shooting needs.
