Well, I have read all of this. I have never been one to pass judgement on another man's practices publicly. I have to say that we have had the same 3,000 acres for 10 seasons and I am giving up managing it. When I started hunting it I could see 1 blind for the first 5 seasons. Now out of my tower I can see 13. There are 4 of us. WE shoot 2 good mature bucks and 2 culls each year. 3 years ago we got hunters for the first time to our north and west. They are from San Antonio. Not bashing them for that but I will put it this way. Thanksgiving weekend they shot 22 times on 1400 acres. 1/2 of the acreage is dry dirt "wheat fields". I tried to talk to them about future plans before the first weekend their first year and got a cold shoulder like I was a theif. 3 yrs later we saw 1 mature buck this year. 1. 5 game cameras running and taking about 2,500 pics per week since September. 1 mature buck guy's. This will now be a "kids" lease for learning to hunt and meat hunting. Makes me sick that we passed some of the deer we have, letting them "grow up". Yeah right. We are going to hunt Iowa and Kansas. WE wont be spending money in Texas on Protein and the fuel money to go water and feed every month. I will put corn in the feeders sept. 15 and let the kids have fun. The Panhandle will be back to what it was 20 yrs ago and the bargain hunters will go back home. MAkes me sick.
