I shot this hog and placed him in front of my camera so I could see what ate him. Within 48 hours and to my surprise two dogs drug him off. I would not have thought they had the strength or motivation to do it. In the next image my camera shot about 30 minutes later the hog was gone. I have gotten pictures of these dogs about two dozen times in the last six months. I can see a dog tag on the one looking into the camera so they must be someone's pets. Any ideas on how to make them stay gone without killing them.

So your suggesting someone commit a crime, not a wise move.
Yes! A Weatherby does kill them deader.

These dog threads always end the same. Sometimes it might be wiser to make your own decision and keep it to yourself rather than post possible incriminating evidence in a public forum. Just saying

Will be a problem until you take action, now how you handle that is up to you. I know how I fixed the problem but as craigr said best to keep it to yourself. That dog does seem to have a tag so someone needs to be held responsible for them.

Those dogs give a new meaning to "hog dogs".
Legally you are real limited to what you can do. But if anything happens to the dogs there is a good chance you will be blamed.

My Agg teacher in high school always said to be a rancher (and I think a Hunter could be grouped in there) you had to be a good shot and know how to dig a decent hole and how to keep your mouth closed.

Quit leaving dead pigs (dinner) under your feeder. That might help. You baited them in so expect them to come!!

Is it even illegal to shoot dogs out in the country?
I've specifically asked the sheriff where my place is and he said something to the effect of, "Those dogs definitely need to be shot."
They're killing calves where I am, but still...
Pretty easy to make a case for shooting them. Pretty difficult for a pissed-off owner to make a case for why he couldn't keep them off your property many, many times.
And before somebody freaks out and tells me I'd be sorry if I shot their hog dogs, plain and simply: I wouldn't unless they were a repeat problem.

I would take the picture of the dogs and go to the nearest house on each of the four sides of the lease (assuming it is square or rec.) and show it to whoever lives there and tell them my problem. One of them will recognize the dogs. If nothing is done in a few days, do what you gotta do.

So your suggesting someone commit a crime, not a wise move. The OP stated "without killing them" so I wouldn't worry too much about that. I would suggest a mountain lion. That would at least be a challenge for them.

Chain up your carcass if you want it to stay put. Works great for a week or 2 usually.

Just shoot em and bury them. Deny it if asked.

What is the law in Texas on stray dogs. They are at your feeder. So are they not considered stay? Check the laws. I would try to get the info from the tag and contact the owner. If that fails, contact your local dog warden. you all have these right?
