I was wondering what the most popular caliber is for those on THF. Just vote for your GO-TO caliber, even tho you may sometimes use a different one. There may have already been a poll but I cant find it. Just vote and let us know, and maybe leave a comment as to why you prefer that caliber. If you don't rifle hunt, let us know whether its bow, muzzleloader, or shotgun and maybe why. I just listed some of the most popular calibers, but if yours is not listed, check other and tell us what it is.
I cant wait to see the results in a few days.

I said 243 (even though I shoot 6mm) assuming we are talking about deer hunting...

I pretty much only bow hunt for deer/turkey/pigs only because I enjoy the challenge. Rifle hunted for a lot of years and kinda got bored with it.

My father-in-law is letting me use his .243 until I can afford my own. It is a bolt action Savage and I like it quite a bit. This is for deer hunting, I haven't hunted anything else before.

i would say on here most popular is 7mm-08, and .270....IMO ill take the .270 anyday

I just went with the most popular calibers, but didnt want to add so many it got confusing. I cannot believe I missed the .308!!

Yes, what is the quarry? Deer? Elk? Grizzly? Nilgai? Kudu?

I think there are two groups of hunters (in very broad terms). First group is gun nuts who hunt (i wanted x gun and got it, so I will hunt with it). Other group is hunting nuts (my gun works great so why change). There is very little distinction between these groups and lines are very thin and often are not lines, but smudge marks. The best caliber is the one that is availabe, leathal, comfortable, and consistantly accurate.
