hey guys been surfing on here for a while and decided to finally make an account. so figured id start this off right. I noticed a thread on watching american hog dogs and stuff
The reason I posted is for Wildlife Managemant. I have studied under Game Biologist such as James Kroll (Dr. Deer) and Dale Rollins. One of the most significant parts of wildlife management is predator control. most specifically for deer, turkey quail, and from a ranchers aspect livestock and crops. And one of the largest antagonists to the list before are Feral hogs. They account for a lower fawn crop due to actually feeding the crops once born, as well as affecting the ecosystem year round. A boars diet is also made up of Eggs, and vegetation. The eggs come into play when turkey and Quail are nesting. most turkey lay in nests but the Bobwhite Quail lays there eggs directly on the ground. Hogs are attributed to the dramatically lower quail populations seen in Tx today due to a rapidly increasing Feral pig populations.
Texas Parks and Wildlife's recently released study states that 50-70% of all feral pigs must be "controlled" annually just to keep the population where it is today. This current population accounts for an estimated 2 billion dollars worth of agricultural damage, and an uncountable animal population damage
my services are as follows
my Associate and I come in and evaluate the situation and take care accordingly we do not bring guns onto the property nor do we come on to properties without permission hogs can be taken alive or not alive, but either way they will not be left on there.
this is a quick, safe, and management minded strategy. that your property will be benefit from the management is specifically for Wild Pigs but its is a well respected management strategy for nearly everything living thing on any given property
does not affect deer hunting. my personal ranch in Throckmorton i do not think twice about doing this on my property opening deer season, the rut, whatever.
we do not ask for pay, this is legitamant operation for management and not just some guy asking to come "shoot a hog" we do not use guns or bows at all. we are land and desired animal enthusiasts and just try to help out.
I will be in this area this friday through sunday. please contact me quickly for more information or to schedule a time
please PM me for your ranch or any others that could use our services I look forward to hearing from you. or just some more infromation

I guess in a way yes, im looking to get my dogs some much needed exercise to keep them on there game, also try and help out someone with a hog problem, and give them an opportunity that you normally would have to pay someone to do. theres a lot of money just in the dogs alone not to mention on the cut collars vests and tracking devices that we have to bring to the table

thankyou, it does help out a lot but also its a really good chance for someone to get to do something extremely exciting that is hard to do without either a lot of time and money invested or really being lucky and knowng the right people.

I agree with jdw, you can hunt hogs with dogs and catch hogs with dogs till the cows come home. But, that method doesn't even make a small dent in the hog population. Been there done that!

it doesn't help on a large scale for Hog population that would have to be in the states hands, either bounties or state wide funded heli hunting just for starters. but the dogging on a somewhat consistand basis can help with very specific areas for population. or sometimes even a one time thing for some problem pigs. the break into your feeder pen and bust the feeders legs up till it falls type problem. We do a ranch in Albany and have been for sometime it is very large ranch and they have seen a noticeable difference. not to mention a cool chance for someone to try something they haven't done before.

Trapping is way more efficient in controlling numbers.
So where are you selling them?

yes land owners and friend are more than welcome to join.
as far as trapping we do both and honestly have a better turn out with dogging. trapping is a good start but they eventually get smart and trap shy. with dogs instead of waiting for them to come to you and try and fool them you go to them and leave them no choices.

we work the dogs help people out at the same time. we sell them on occasion but mostly its just if the rancher doesn't want them killed or doesn't want blood around then well load them up in a trailer and bring them to either newcaste or albany or wherever the closest buyer is

"we do not ask for pay, this is legitamant operation for management"
Look i have no problem with what you're doing.
But i think its funny that you play the whole "its only for management" card, when in reality you're selling them. And depending on where you're selling them you might be making decent money (depending on how many you catch).

we catch a good amount and rarely sell them. yes i have admitted we like doing it, but game management is our passion and we believe strongly in it. only times we have sold pigs is when ranchers did not want them killed or did not want blood and scent and stuff while deer hunting. if you factor in the thousands of dollars for the dogs. around 1k spent on tracking devices and dog armor. plus miscellaneous stuff dozens of hours training pups and not to mention gas prices. we are far from making money and prefer to not even have to sell them. They are varmints and in my opinion terrorist of the animal kingdom id prefer stick a blade in them and not look back. we have sold hogs 3 times and made under 400 dollars.

Your post is the same as someone posting wild hog removal service. I love trapping them but I dont advertise on hunting forums because all the guys hunt or trap them thierselves.

alright well all of the people who do not want me to hunt there property can go ahead and not say anything and feel assured i will not come onto your property. For the people that do not like to trap and do have a problem they could post if they can work there way through the multiple dumps that have been taken on my thread
I love how people take more time to say no and that they don't like it instead of just pushing backspace. on other forums that i am on we like to refer to them as "enter-BADASS'S" and "THREAD SHITTERS"

I understand you've put money into your setup, i'm not doubting that.
BUT i know for a fact on a good haul of 4-5 pigs over 150lbs you could net over $400. Now do that a few more times (presuming you could since hunting with dogs is way more efficient than trapping right?) BAM you've made your money back and then some.
I'm not saying you could get rich doing it, but dont make it sound like you're doing community service.

but the thing i am trying ever so hard to tell you is I DONT HAUL THE PIGS. and 5 hogs at 150 pound is about 260 dollars and not worth how much harder it is to hobble them and then wrestle them up into a transport and drive them. Only time I do that is when ranchers specifically ask for that either because they don't want them killed there or want some money

I would say you are doing your part. If I had land with hogs on it I would have you come help me take em out! Bet it would be a blast to kill a hog with a knife.
