If I am being attached by onei would(provided I don't **** 1st)
If it is harming livestock/deer/people than I would
If I just saw it and it wasn't threatening anything, than I wouldn't

Rancher friend grandson killed a cougar app. 12 miles south west of Graham in early January while feeding cattle. He said the cat weighed 120 lbs. and was 68 inches from tip of nose to tip of tail. He has had no problems but said with new calves starting to drop hes glad that he shot it. Sorry no pictures but I believe the old man.

I'd shoot a cougar without hesitation. Though their numbers aren't high, they're not endangered and are a species with a very low population density by design.

I probably wouldn't shoot a jagurundi if I saw it.

We are the only predators in the ecosystem who can keep the large predators in check and I believe as responsible stewards of the land it is our duty to do so. They are of course edible but again whether each hunter chooses to consume the meat is his own personal ethical decision. Some may want to mount it, some may want the fur and/or skull. Some may just shoot it to keep, "the wild things," wild.

After scanning some of these posts I can help but wonder if some of the members on here are actually animal rights activists trying to gain fodder for their cause. Some often seem to be goading the rest of us to make inflammatory statements. Beware.

Draggin up old threads from the dead again I see. What the heck, I'll join in. TPWD says that the mountain lion population is stable to expanding, and its ok to shoot them. Because of that, yea, I'd shoot one. It would be a cool trophy and I would even try the meat.

Yes I would shoot a mountain lion!
I did see one with my own eyes about 20 years ago but I didn't have a gun. Dad and I drove to the ranch for the day, it was not deer season and at that time we didn't have a hog problem so I didn't carry my gun. Dad was on his tractor so I went and climbed into my stand to sit and take a look around. This mountain lion crosses my trail at 150 yards. I immediately shut all the windows, radio'd my Dad and said come get me now!
Gun goes with me at all times everywhere I go now!

BTW, I realised, that the guy who sold me the spot on this small place, was not baiting me, when he was telling me about a cougar frequenting the area........
