Still there - but been two years since I ate there. Don't remember all you can eat but two or more of their filets plus sides was plenty.
Only at the end do you realize the power of the Dark Side.

What was that place on the Brazo's in Waco called that's use to be some good catfish... So did the one out on Lake Grapevine

Sudie's in League City and Clear Springs in San Antonio. Be-careful a lot of restaurants are substituting catfish with Talapia and not telling you.

I grew up eatting at least once a month a Big Pines on Caddo. It is or was all you can eat, but has gone down hill over the years. The big old man died, I really liked him he ran a gun shop on the side of the resteraunt. Watched my dad walk out with a full belly and a new 1100 one time. His wife took over and it was still good, then it burned down and the kids brough it back I haven't been there since, but have heard it has gone to carp.
Used to the whole catfish you got none were over 10" long, young good channel cat and there cole slaw is still the best I have ever had. But the hushpuppies they did like funnel cakes the jalapeno was awesome. They brough out huge bowls of hushpuppies and cole slaw before the fish so unless you were really disciplined you would be too full to eat too much fish.
Really sad some really old Texas eattin joints go down hill after 20-30 years. Like Country Tavern, once the old lady died it has never even been close to the same.

The best Catfish I ate was in Pottsboro. I think the place was called Buzzards Catfish and Billiards. The bar in there was made from an old school bus. 1/2 the place was a pool hall, the other 1/2 was a restaurant and bar. They had real thick fillets.

Catfish Platter is pretty good. On the Oklahoma side, up 377. For more local to me, I like Catfish Haven in Princeton, or Marisco del Gulfo on 78 in Wylie.
For favorites that are no longer, Arlene's (at least I think they are gone) and Cahoots in Abilene.

La Hacienda has a great catfish plate... I get mine well done the green sauce on top is awesome. Lots of folks think Papadeux's (SP) fried platter is good.

I always ask if the catfish is from China. Most restaurants use Chinese catfish...I look for USA catfish.
A cook friend of mine: told me a chain switched to Chinese, she broke out in rash up to her elbows breading the Chinese catfish, has to wear gloves now.
