That's just funny. I'm thinking of all the people that just had a rise in blood pressure and then an instant sigh of relief when they saw "just kidding". I was looking forward to some entertainment but I wouldn't rule it out just yet. We'll see if this goes anywhere. How 'bout, "308 'cause if it's good enough for the military it's good enough for me" LOL.

I have a range we can let you prove me wrong at. Heck we will shoot all the way to 1000 yards if you want to. Bring your 30/06 and show me.

What you really need is a 300 Winchester Magnum. That is the best caliber on the planet, probably even in the solar system and maybe the universe.

My 308 is more accurate than your 30/06. And i can prove it It's a coin flip between my Thompson Center Icon .30-06 (left) and Thompson Center Icon .308 (right) zeroed at 200yds, both shooting 165gr Nosler Accubond bullets with 48gr IMR4320 and 44gr Varget, respectively. ![](http://i431.photobucket.com/albums/qq34/CowtownAngler/target.jpg)

Both are good but can you shoot deer and elk with a 17 HMR. Pretty close to a 30.06 isn't it? ![roflmao roflmao](/forum/images/graemlins/default/roflmao.gif)

But what I want to know is, which gun will make that .308 or 30-06 more powerful?

06 can easier use a higher gr bullet and push the lighter ones faster, but in most factory loaded stuff they are within 100fps of each other.

come on no one with a 30/06 that wants to prove me wrong. Sure if you're shooting an out of the box hunting rifle, I might try and dig my ancient FN out and find a recoil pad to slip on it.

come on no one with a 30/06 that wants to prove me wrong. Believe me: a comparably built rifle in .30-06 can do it. Obviously no one thinks you're worth the trouble.

On a more serious note Carlos Hathcock used a Winchester Model 70 in 30-06. He seemed to shoot pretty good.
