In Texas, anything GREEN in a major magnet! A pivot irrigation system is our best advice...(you're probably looking for a cheaper solution)
On another note: I've have actually seen an axis buck rattled in during the axis rut.
Are you hunting high or low fence and what acreage are you hunting on? Can have an effect on what "attractants" are most effective.

I'm on a 120 acre small site with low fence on two sides, and high on two. the low sides go all the way out to the highway, maybe a mile away. water available from a trough and small tubs at corn feeders on the site.
always room for another buddy!
