I have 2 stands off the lease road!!! I park my truck by the gate and one stand is approx 400yds from the truck and the other about 600yds!!! I'll hunt the furthest one in the morning to around 10 and then go back to truck for a bite and then about 11 or 11:30 head to the other stand!!!

i have done it before, but i was bored after a while, but that was when i was younger. i am going to give it a shot again this season. I think if you see a lot of traffic it is kind of pointless since you will see the same animals for the most part. JMO. But just like mentioned before be comfortable. Cell phones are wonderful little computers aren't they? Food, baby oil, TP and some adult entertainment.......I think I'll just stick with phone and food.

Yes definitely when I lived up in Northwest Arkansas hunting choke points or deer trails. I believe the same goes for here. You certainly cannot kill one if not hunting.
In Texas, my experience relates more to turkey hunting. Later morning and afternoon are great times to kill Spring turkey but you have to stay on the move on foot albiet rather slowly (occassionally using a locator call). Turkeys often tend to follow the same routes so if you hunt or look for those routes it can be rewarding. However that might be more difficult on a smaller property depending.
Deer do not vanish into some other dimension at 9:30AM. They are probably doing something somewhere (unless bedded down). However, you may be limited by hunting in a fixed stand oriented for morning and afternoon sightings, or by mere lease size.
To be determined

Yep, all the time! Especially during full moon or before/after a "good" front comes through. May take enough time to go eat a samich. Don't always sit in the blind, but may stake out a used trail or stock tank.

I've never done it. Usually leave the stand by 10AM. Get back around 3 or 3:30. I think I'm going to give it a shot tomorrow and Saturday though.

I hunt from a climber and I would have to get out for a while. That's a long time to sit. I have an API Grand Slam Super Mag Supreme stand and it is very comfortable but I still need to get down and stretch, get a bite etc... Also...depending on what I'm seeing I may move to a different tree / location.
Just my two cents for whatever that's worth.

I'll do it only if it's in or near the rut and it's cold and it's rainy/drizzly/overcast. Otherwise, I've just never seen enough activity midday to justify it.
My question is, how many of you have actually killed a big, mature buck midday?

I have a cousin near Crockett that does. He's been sending me reports of what he's been seeing. Quite a few deer, does and bucks of various ages and sizes, a momma bobcat and 2 young ones. But nothing to shoot as yet.
I have done it a few times, but I have a hard time making a full day in a stand.
