What are yall's favorite loads for 7mm08? I plan to use 120gr bullets to start because that's what I have been loading in my 7-30 Waters and have some on hand.

Thanks BMD, both of those will cost me money but will definately work some up. Is that what Kacee is shooting?

Texan which Hodgdon powder? I think I have some of every powder they sell. Wanna get rid of some of your brass?

For the 7MM-08,the Nosler Reloading Guide # 6 shows 42 grains of Varget powder as the max load for the 140 gr NBT.
This has proven to be an accurate load for me.

For the 120 grain bullet:
Varget powder 41 gr = 2,895 fps
43 3,018
45 3,139
Other powders may do better, but I have experience with Varget.

Haven't loaded much for teh 120s but the 140s have had good results with max or within one gr of max on the Hodgdon site with Varget.

IMR4350 has also produced some very accurate loads with 140 grain Nosler Patitions and Ballistic Tips

140 gr. Sierra Pro Hunter

43.7 +/- Varget

F210M

Winchester brass

As with any load, work up to it for your rifle. Helped a friend work it up for his. That load will hold 1" at 200 yards very consistently in an older factory Rem 700 with a 24" heavy barrel.

I load the 120 br Nosler BT with 50.5 gr of W 760. This load is extreamly accurate and I have killed deer and hogs with great results.

This right here... I do a VERY similar load, and it's a good one. I gotta start development on a 120 grain load though. BMD has had me curious about it for a while.

My best load is 44g IMR4064, behind the 120 NBT. Gives great accuracy. Also have great results with Varget, but I don't have access to my Varget load at the moment. All using CCI 200 primers and Hornady/Frontier brass. If you would like the Varget load I can get it, just PM me.

Thanks StrosFan.I don't have any Varget. I'll probably start with 4895 since I have some on the bench and several others that are compatible.

BMD did Kacee take her zebra with your 120gr load? If so I'm impressed. Should pole axe a skinny whitetail.

Yeah there is a reason most all factory ammo does not go over 140 for that caliber.

To be determined

BMD, the load posted runs 2860 fps. For a 140gr bullet that's not too bad. Just sayin.

The faster you run a TSX the more reliable it will be for opening up fully. I want that bullet to open as quickly as possible for more destruction along the bullet path as possible. Unlike many other bullets the TSX and TTSX do not typically shed weight in in effect secondary wound channels like cup and core bullets or Nosler Partitions and accubonds and most other bullets do. That large for caliber frontal concave area on the Barnes bullets driving through I believe is a large part of why they have such a good reputation for effectiveness, much like a Slow moving Pistol bullet with a large meplate like semi Wad cutters bulldozes/rippign its way through is micu more effective than it seems like should be the Barnes goes about the same but at a faster veolcity, which is also neded fot that bullet to take on the shape. Dang I goe long winded there.

The TTSX are supposed to open better at lower velovities than the TSX does. It is not the muzzle velovity I worry about as much as the velocity at impact with the gamme.

Just my opinion and who knows I may be entirely wrong. Fluid dunamics was not my strong point when getting an engineering degree.

I just bought the Hornady Interbond 139 GR and Varget. Anybody have any specific recipes with this combination. Barrel twist 1:9.25 length 20"

I'm going to start at 39gr and work up to 42.2 as recommended by the Hodgdon site.

The Hornady book has a very wide range starting at 33.5 and going to 41.5
