Here's a bird flesher shield that I put together. Cut a hole in the back panel for the grinder shaft to fit through. I'll sit the grinder on a table behind this shield to flesh the birds. I'm having trouble though with the grinder itself...bought an old grinder motor from a pawn shop and a wire wheel but while fleshing, it's really hard not to catch the bird skin and tear a hole. Very frustrating to get that far and screw it up. I've only done a handful of birds just as a hobby, but would like some input on flesher motors/wire wheeling. Also, put in a pic of my home-made bird tumbler that I put fine grain corn grit in to dry the bird in minutes.

Looks good. I need to build one.

You can soften the bristles by running a 2x4 under it for a while. Also could get a potentiometer to vary the speed.

Anyone have a suggestion on ideal RPMs for the motor?

Here's a previous thread on it.

I'd say starting out the slower the better. Then you can increase the speed once you get a feel for it and for tougher birds...
