One of the great things about hunting is deer camp. How about having some pics of some of our best deer camps...had one years ago that the cabins were actually old school buses...pretty funny. Then one in Llano called the Llano Hilton. How about some pics of deer camps along with the deer after opening weekend? Much of the memory is where we were and who we were with. Just an idea.

Yes I agree about the camp's, The last few year's Ive been hunting at a place were we don't camp just show up go to our stand's and meet up about 11:00 am go to lunch in town and go for the evening hunt then go home. Well it has gotten real old and I'm not leasing there next year even though it only 200.00 a year. Im getting on a lease next year with my brother that is alot more money but we have a camp site and it's the lease we grew up on and we have alot of memories there. I miss the camp and can't wait till next year to start making some new memories with my brother & nephew. Sorry don't have pic's of the camp.

Love the school bus! Our place we had in Freestone for 20 years had a 57 Ford school bus that my dad and some friends converted into a motor home with a kitchen and beds.

Love the Bus camp. Regarding the East Texas comments... love em. Don't worry too much about the family tree issue... I recently read that a young couple in East Texas (both age 15) were getting divorced. Fortunately in the divorce decree the judge allowed the to still remain cousins.
Heading to Leon County Friday night.... no cousins coming with.

Here is our camp at the new lease. The blind behind the trailer we call the Aussie blind because it is out back. We use half the blind for dry storage and can hunt out of the other half. We have a hog tube about 60ysd in front of the blind. If we are staying for more than a few days we take the toyhauler.

Great Pics so far. Love the Vogelzang heater. We're in the process of putting one in at one of the cabins at our place. Keep the pics coming. Just think, less than 96 hours til legal shooting light. All these cabins should be empty then.

I hunted down that way for a few years (about 15 miles further down the rd), my brother and his FIL still do and they've been there about 10 yrs now.

These pics are getting great. Looking at some of these...any chance I could move my family to your hunting camp during the off season. Glad y'all liked the cousin joke. Keep those pics coming. Let's all try to post more pics, especially with our harvests after opening weekend.

Yep. The Llano Hilton is located on FM2323. We also hunted down the road from there for a few years..near House Mountain. Great place. One of the prettiest places to hunt I have ever been. It was a super Hill Country Experience.

I used to hunt a place on the CR that ran from Loyal Valley over to House Mnt. Loved that place until the sorry landowner leased out from under us with no notice.

Wow. We were hunting neighbors. We had the 800 acres just north of House Mountain...has a smaller mountain called Sandy Mountain. It was one of the most fun places I've ever hunted. The owner was a friend and he lost the place cuz he drank too much and his business went bankrupt due to his addiction. sad. We were there for about 15 years. Then went to South Texas on 800 acres that was amazing but now have settled in on East Texas and a small place I bought. We've gotten the quality up in the past few years and it is only two hours from the house....but I still have flashbacks of that wonderful place in the Hill Country. Hard to beat that environment for fun.

Before she found me I thought I was in high cotton hunting out of a 10x18 Morgan building on timber land in East TX. That was a step up from the Orange Port Neches (or was it Groves) bus that was at the old hunting club.

The Llano Hilton? I spent quite a few nights in the Llano Hilton with the Purdue Family. Killed my first deer on that property as a youngster. Owe that family a ton for introducing me to the outdoors. Thanks TP! What years were you there? This would have been mid 80's to mid 90's. Good times!

Awesome memories. Llano Hilton, House Mountain, and Sandy Mountain area in the mid 90's for a total of about 8 years. What a great area. Still take my kids there to see the area at least once a year when we camp in the Hill Country. Keep bringing those camp pictures, past or present. Fun to see!!!!

M16, That is one of the coolest hunting lodges I have ever seen.Where is it at ? Will have to get one of the bands I book for to come down for some live entertainment sometime ! Wish I had a picture of the camp my Dad and his brothers used. It was in Hope,Ark. and was about 4 miles from my uncle's house. It was their childhood home gutted out and had bunk beds in it. The thing I remebered most about it, was the long wood bridge that went over the catfish pond to the front porch from the dirt driveway. Used to sit on the front porch and catch, clean, and throw fish straight into the grease.Dad had 10 brothers and sisters and all gone but one. Deer camp tore down years ago.

Here's a picture of the current one. We are building a new Hunting Cabin 2.0 next April This one was here when we got it and is wired for electricity and does fine, except when it is hot outside.. cannot cool it. Like most folks, we store stuff in it and pull it out when we get there.. i.e. the grill etc. Also, no gas or water or whatever.. so.. we will build a new better one! The new one will have a 15' porch and electricity and a bathroom...ooooohhhh
Hunting is easy..it's getting permission from your wife that is tough.

Here's the hunting cabin in Wisconsin. I sure to find one as fun and as friendly in Texas. This spring on a wood cutting and general maintenance trip. And the inside after a day of cutting wood. Ignore the friendly gesture, that was meant for me, LOL.

Thanks Russ,I've posted them before, when I'm not working on it I'm thinking about working on it. You can work out a lot of potential problems in your head...You'll see,it can become all-consuming.Good luck on your cabin too. It is a blast to sleep in a nice warm place that YOU built and get up and go hunt.

Houses aren't "deer camp cabins". If you're in a full-blown house, you're not at "deer camp".

Converted shipping container. Kind of hate to put this after the mansion (HA!) but it works out in W.Texas. The other one is a small shack the guy on our lease built and put together when we got on the lease. Easy to take apart also. Sure stays warm @ night w/ a small electric heater!

The Deer Hunters Creed: "This is our camp. There are many others like it, but this one is OURS!!" And of course, every deer camp in Texas needs one of these: . . . Nothing fancy. No running water. No electricity. But it's ours, and we love it! . . . .

This is ours. Orginally built in the 1890s. Alot of the glass in it is orginal. It has a wavy appearance to it, not smooth like today's glass. The wood inside is extremely hard. You have to pre drill a hole before putting a screw in it. Not like today's soft pine. Nothing fancy but it is comfortable.

She helps the looks and behavior of the place a lot..... and she's the kill leader since joining!
We have a great group overall too. Everyone pitches in physically and financially and most importantly everyone gets along.

Do ya'll leave the doors unlocked, with some cans of food and water, along with a sign written in spanish saying take what you need but don't break anything?
Thursday at 12:45 PM #33 Once i learned that i didn't "NEED" to kill something, and that if i did kill something all the fun stopped and work began, i was a much better hunter.
