Had pics of this bucks in the area, never expected to see this old guy during the day. I packed my ladder stand in before daylight to a little draw between a crp patch and a bedding area and set up as quickly and queitly as possible in the cold drizzle before light. Get settled in and waited. About 7:20 I looked across the crp and saw two white spots. It turned out to be antlers headed right to me. Ive never killed a Kansas deer so I wasnt taking into account the body size compared to the rack. I knew he was a very mature shooter, but not that he was the big 10 from the game cam. I tried to focus on making a good shot and not being seen. He came in to 18 yards and I drew, but he stayed behind a tree. I held the Invasion back as long as I could, and let it down slow. He kept standing there just checking things out. He knew something wasnt right, and turned to head back across the crp and I drew again. Grunted him to a stop at 50 yards. I've been practicing like a mad man at 50, so I put a 2 blade rage right into his neck, where it passed through. He stumbled hard, and took off with his tail down, a sure sign of a lethal hit. I texted a few people that Id just shot a 140 8 pt. 2 hours later with some better eyes than mine(Im color blind and cannot see a blood well)we trailed him 300 yards following a MASSIVE blood trail and found him. I was blown away by the overall size of this deer.

Great dear! Not sure I could hold the bow steady enough to shoot that beast.

Awesome deer.

I've never heard of anyone intentionally shooting a deer in the neck with a bow. Was that where you were aiming?
