That looks like a decent hog for Texas, from what I've seen here so far.

Maybe I just haven't seen enough Texas hogs yet to say with any certainty, but they don't seem to run quite as big, on average, as the stuff I hunted for decades in Calif. I've also seen a lot of hogs here that show a lot of domestic genetic influence (curly tails, black/white coloration, etc.). That seems more concentrated in some areas than others.

Here's a trophy boar by Calif. standards. And yes, there's tons of hog hunting in Calif... Everyone always seems surprised to learn that. True Russian boars were introduced to the central coast area back in the 1800s, and they quickly interbred with the feral stuff introduced by the Spaniards, so genetics for big hogs was always there.
