For me, it is just getting the heck out of town and leaving the "city" behind. Also, it is having son and father time in the country. We love it.

Just being in the woods. Big bucks are nice too.
We have enough youth. How about a fountain of "smart"?

For me it's a few things. Pre-dawn walk to the creek bottom. Watching/hearing the woods come alive at sunrise. Being alone in the woods. And VENISON. My family LOVES VENISON and as far as they're concerned it's the sole reason for me to go hunting. I guess the rest is just a fringe benefit for me.

I like several things, probably the biggest one is spending time with my brother and dad, second would be thrill of hunt and getting some good eats, and third would be management. I think it is fun weather you get to shoot them or not, it is just interesting to see what you can make out of what you got.

I'm in the minority on this board, in that I only hunt mulies in far West Texas. We don't do any stand hunting since the country is so open, so it's hike and glass, hike and glass, hike and glass all day.
So for me the best thing is getting to see some of the prettiest desert country out there, finding a good spot to watch the sun rise over the mountains, and the thrill when I finally spot a big buck. Cooking up a big breakfast when we get back to the cabin is also great, since everyone is sharing stories of what they saw and strategizing for the evening hunt.
I wish I was West of the Pecos today.
