I hope you are kidding with that. A duck is not something to get killed over.

Guy is right. However, it doesn't sound like there's any ducks out there anyways.

If this is such a good spot that it's worth running over decoys, beaching an air boat, hunting the same area as 20 other guys... then by God I want to see some pictures of some limits! Show us the pics!

That's the problem...it ain't the kids fault it is the irresponsible adults teaching kids that is how you hunt.

I agree completely as with most of the posts made on this thread, as I said in my original post, this is my definition of Barney. It is not a newbie, in fact many newbies are pretty cool and respectable hunters trying to do things right, it is guys like this that only care about #1 and lack respect for other hunters afield. Most of which are experienced hunters, his Dad probably taught him this kinda behavior. Maybe he will learn something here and change for the better..

This thread has entertained me. It's funny how this jwaltz guy is so self-unaware and clueless. I think if he would not have posted at all he would have been better off...but it's like he's digging himself into a hole.

I understand it though....he is just being defensive. But in reality I think he's learned a little bit from this and he be a bit more aware and thoughtful going forward but of course he won't admit it here. He doesnt seem to be a big enough man to say sorry or admit he was way out of line...but he has to know now.

I'll give the guy the benefit of the doubt that he is just ignorant and thought heading out at 8am is ok and running over decoys was a mistake, and just parking his boat there was also a mistake. Maybe going forward he gets to "his spot" at 4 or 5 am so he can beat other people there.

Maybe in a few weeks we'll see a post where he is all pissed because another barney set up 50 yards up from him at five minutes till LST.

Thank god I don't have to deal with public hunting much anymore.

The sad thing is this isn't a tiny lake with only a few spots to hunt. If you've got an airboat there are some excellent places to go that probably no one else is going to. I'm pretty sure i can deduct where this was at on the lake and its a pretty popular place. Any adult from that area that hunts should know this. Anyone who also hunts and has sunk money into an airboat should have enough sense to know that teal fly early. It doesn't matter if its a boat lane or not. You realize someone is hunting in that spot, you keep moving. You don't park your boat on the sand bar by their spread. Who with any sense does that?

Just be a man and apologize dude. You screwed up and made an arse of yourself. Man up and say you screwed up.

Why didn't you shine him off when he was approaching? Was anything he did illegal for the lake you were on?

It all depends on who you believe. Ishootspoonies has more cache in this forum so his word will be believed by most. Jwaltz is new so he is considered a newbie or "d bag".

From the text it sounds like jwaltz showed up late (might or might not be legal depending on the area rules) which pissed off ishootspoonies (perfectly understandable). Jwaltz approached, apologized, and tried to explain. Instead of airing his grievances IN PERSON, ishootspoonies decided to wait and complain over an internet forum.

Jwaltz - you shouldn't have showed up so late or ran over his decoys if it was done purposely.

Ishootspoonies - you should have had a 10 minute conversation with the guy to figure out why he did that or explain to him why it wasn't a good idea.

Most of these "barney" stories and situations have two sides but we only hear one.

Oh and it sounds like both of you need to find a new place to hunt. That spot seems about filled up from both of yalls descriptions.

I walked up to this guy and apologized......right then......unarmed.....by myself. Now the geek squad wants to flatten my trailer tires, shoot my prop, shoot my boat in " self defense ", try to get all gay on me and get in my (censored)! Get over it...........I was just as shocked as ol' spoonie when I saw canvasbacks sitting where I park my boat! Ive limited out everyday, except the last Saturday and Sunday of the season, in the same spot between 8:30 and 9:30. You can wake up early if you want. I'll be where the birds are......right before they get there!

Missed where you said you apologized then, good for you.

Sounds like you just need to realize that getting there that late can really screw up others hunts. Hell man, half the fun of duck hunting is wandering around in the dark.

I don't think an apology covers harassing another hunter. If you park 30 yards from someone's spread, expect to get a ticket next time.

Haha don't worry you will never win over here. I would suggest saving this thread just in case someone messes with your truck, trailer, or boat. Probably should get there earlier since you obviously weren't the only groups hunting this piece of lake.

Make take on it ....

If'n you is gonna DuckByrd hunt on public waters durin' the week-ends and/or holidays ..... you cain't hardly git around "goin'" at 8 AM ..... AirBoat man should know that ... most 'specially if'n you have had success there in the past few days. Folks hear you shootin' and thays sho-nuff hears yore AirBoat. 50 mph in that water situations ... come on !!!

NO-Body should be ridin' 'round at 8 AM durin' DuckByrd season unless thays is headin'straight back to where thay let off and thay is headin' home.

IMO

So you apoligized to him for running over his decoys but left your boat what 30 yards from him...

YEAH Seemed really sorry.... rofl

I for one did not advocate shooting tires blades nothing else. I would have suggested you move your boat. I do not know spoonie. But I would guess he was speechless. I mean I would have been.

Kinda like a guy pulled up to me an apoligized for peppering me one day. I quickly sharply let him know that it was not the peppering it was the coming in at 530 setting up decoys 80 yards away facing.

You apoligized for running over his decoys then continued to act like a pompous.

30 yards.... my choke patterns great at that range.... im just sayin ive shot a lot of birds off of sandbars... always wondered this.... if we made examples out of idiots on the spot... not sayin shoot them and burn the airboat... but maybe just tell them politely they are mistaken in their actions... then maybe the world would be a better place for our future.... 30 yards makes a hell of a pattern....
