Well, I have a Mossberg 835 and it has always worked. It got replaced because I wanted a semi-auto, but it goes on the trip with me so I have a backup.
Travel to far to miss my hunt because of a gun issue.

I have an older 870 express that I have had for 20 years. I have never had a problem with the gun and it has been through hell and back. I bought a Nova pump so I would have a main gun and my 870 as a backup and the Nova would not eject after the first shot 75% of the time. I sold it and bought a Remi 887. I have been very impressed with the new 887 and have had no trouble with it.

Browning BPS if you want a pump gun. The "big discount stores" demanded a low price point on firearms a few years back. This caused some Mfg.s to cut corners. Some introduced new models, but Remington just stuck the trusted old name on the cheap guns. Remington was the best at cutting corners, but falling short on quality. There is a reason why most big box discounters do not carry the better built gun models.

Own an 06 model Express....jambed like crazy when I got it. Wouldn't shoot cheap shells at all. After sanding the chamber and putting about 500 rounds through it at the clays range it's a pretty good shotgun. I wouldn't buy another Express....

I had good luck with my 20g 870 Express, but I wouldn't buy another one from all the data from everybody. I'm not clear as to how many of the people on this thread that said the 870's were junk were specifically talking about the Wingmasters vs. the Express. I got the feeling that they kept the Wingmasters high quality (they are twice the price) but I don't know if that's true anymore. If I had or wanted to buy another pump, I think I'd go with the Browning BPS like Lee mentioned. Yeah it's $500 but so is a Wingmaster, and the BPS has never had bad reports. Bottom eject sure looks handy for picking up shells and being a good neighbor, too

I'm trying to reccomend a 870 to a friend and I've heard that the new ones aren't any good. This can't be right? I've shot 870's most of my life. Please give your two cents.
Kelly I don't know how many complaints you have heard or read but divide that number by 10 million to arrive at the ratio of haters vs believers
