Just wondering what everyone else' deer camp is like. I know where mine falls...better be able to hunt all day and drink into the night, or don't show up. What about everyone else?

I am referred to as the gun safety NAZI. I have them all trained now. No guns are out and in play when we are drinking. A few beers at the campfire or watching the game on Satellite TV (camp is rough these days...) but the guns are up when we come into camp.
Hasn't been anyone drunk at our camp in years..... we're pretty serious about hunting!

Oh, and my nag is one of the ones in camp. She's the designated driver. Never drinks. And is the kill leader over the last two years by a long shot... wonder if those are related?

I know how to have a good time and put more than my share away, however the drinking of the other where I hunt really gets on the extreme side.
with 10-15 in camp its not at all uncommon for people to still be partying at 4am when I get up to start coffee, on the other hand its nice to have 4,000acres to your self every morning.

We like to enjoy ourselves, but not at the sake of the hunt. Lots of bottles meet their demise ar our camp, but we hunt hard too. Nothing like a few cold ones as you watch deer on the evening hunt. Or a makers and diet or four around the campfire. But enjoy yourself and get your [censored]. up for the AM hunt. That's ours.

the two camps i hunt personally, one is the 3rd and the other is the 4th.
For it is not the quarry that we truly seek, but the adventure.

My previous camp crew of many years guns are emptied when in camp and put away. We all have kids so saftey is stressed. Beer or wine was choice but never abused. This is my 1st year at new lease, hope this group has the same respect.

We eat good, no loaded guns in camp, we have some drinkers and some non-drinkers. The fun is often over done by some, but the balance is good. No one steps on any toes so it works. I like that we eat as a group nightly and help with all the cooking and chores around camp. It was a good first yr. Looking forward to this season. Hopefully my 9 yr old will get to harvest his first animals.

We hunt hard and do enjoy our beer. May take a six pack to the stand for afternoon hunt, but I usually go to stand earlier that the rest. If there is a kill we will pass a bottle of some thing around (some times 5 or 6 times) after dinner. That said before entering camp we will remove round from chamber and leave rifles in truck or put in camper. I would do this even if booze was not on lease. I travel 6.5 hours one way to lease so I try to prevent problems that would spoil or cut hunt short.

I put my group in the "social drinkers" camp. We do drink beer, but sure as heck don't bring it into the rifle blinds or the tree stands during bow season. We take hunting very seriously and once you start drinking you stop hunting.
We are looking to find some strippers this year though. I think that would be nice (of course not during Youth Weekend).

Nothing wrong with a few beer after the hunt to celebrate the big buck you just downed, or drown your sorrows for missing him.

No telling what the night might be like at my place. I've seen everything from lights out as soon as dinner is over to dinking till we would normaly be going to the stand (insted of to bed). Love the cold nights by a fire with a beer telling lies.

Beer when we get back from he morning hunt, some whiskey with lunch, a nap or the texans game if they are on, evening hunt (we dont drink in the stands) Then mr evan williams again after dinner till midnight or so. Its hillarious when everyone gets loaded around the campfire. I swear i have heard the same bs stories for the last 15 years but they are funny everytime. No guns out at camp when we are drinking. When everyones up though we will go through around 3-4 2 litre bottles of whiskey in a weekend between 10 guys

Worst I've seen at our camp was when we had the South TX Xmas miracle snow in 2004. The snow stuck several days and that next weekend a dozen guys stayed up drinking, playing poker and smoking by the fire until 5am. Something about the moon on the snow. Not too bad of a deal since the deer were too shocked to move anyway.
I think the death toll was about 8 cases and 3-4 bottles that night alone.

We've got some guys that like to stay up at the camp fire all night and drink, some guys that'll have a drink or three, and some guys that are out by 9pm. Whatever you like just as long as it doesn't disturb anyone else.
Sometimes I go to bed early. Sometimes I stay up by the fire to 1 AM. But one thing I won't do is miss a hunt. Spent a lot of money for hunting and deer season only last a short while. You can sleep after the season is over.

One beer or glass of wine on Friday night and another on Saturday night. Thus, a 6-pk will last 3 weekends. In our camp, I'm considered a heavy drinker. Now, the bottled water.....that's another thing altogether.

Come back to camp and all guns are un-loaded and locked up with a non-drinker holding the key. At that point its time for dinner and fun. Sometimes a lot, sometimes a little!

Our camp pretty much has no nightlife at all. First lease I have ever been on that was like that. Everyone just kinda keeps to themselves.

Safety is key, Whomever is drinking there guns are unloaded and stowed, I also like to see them sleep before they grab a gun. I normally don't drink anything more than 7up/Dr pepper/water at camp so I always stay ready for soemthing to jump off with poachers or soemthing along those lines. The couple times I had roungh weeks and would cut loose My weapons where unloaded and locked in the Jeep before I even started. Our big thing is Eating we cook/grill a big dinner every night, and after AM hunt leftover meat gets tossed onto breakfast. WE like a campfire to eat around if its not to cold, if its cold Dominoes and John Wayne on the Tube

All the above.lol as someone who offers package hunts I find myself having good christian fellowship with one group and swilling a bottle of whiskey with the next.
The bottom line with me is, we can drink or we can hunt not both.
