I bought this bow this week after shooting many other bows. It wasn't the fastest but it was among the quietest. It was cheaper price wise than most of the bows I looked at. But it doesn't shoot or look cheap. Handled very well, balanced just right (for me). I would hold all the bows and draw back with my eyes closed and then open them and see if I torqued the bows. The Venture would be perfectly level everytime.

I am no expert only on my 3rd bow season just sharing my experience from the last few weeks of looking at bows.

NewJeep,

Congrats. Did you look at and shoot the Endeavor?

If so, what made you pick the Venture over the Endeavor?

I've gotten a chance to shoot the Endeavor, but all they have are left handed Venture bows. In looking at the Venture, looks like the step above the Endeavor with the roller cable guard and the dead end string stop.

I'm thinking the roller cable guard is going to extend the life of the cables, but haven't gotten to shoot it, which is sort of why I'm asking.

I shot both and the Venture seemed smoother on the draw. My friends son bought the Endeavor a couple of weeks ago and he loves it. I shot it a few times and that is what got me wanting a new bow.

Never shot the Matthews DXT. I shoot a Switchback and would HIGHLY recomend them. They can be had on Ebay in your price range. Only bad thing about Matthews is that if the draw length is wrong for you, you have to change cams.

But once you have it set right It's definitely worth it.

This is true. However, I would recommend to anyone to shoot a bunch of bows, find one that you really like and then try to find one used if you are trying to keep it below a certain price.

Lots of times you can find a much nicer more expensive 2 year old bow for the same price as a more basic new one.

In my experience the more expensive ones are usually more expensive for a reason. If you're just starting out, you may not notice the differences but over time you'll learn what makes expensive bows expensive.

I'm sure you could find someone close to you that would let you shoot their bow.

I shot a Bear Charge that a dealer wanted $299 with their RTH package. I really like the way it shot for the price. I think it would be a great entry bow.

Just my two cents........I was basically asking the same question 3 years ago and I bought a new Mission X3 and have not regretted my decision. I would by another one if I ever am in that position again.
