i have seen Nilgai eat alfalfa and I have been told they will eat range cubes. Recently we have been putting out alfalfa and range cubes at camera locations but havent had them eating the cubes yet.

In my experience they will ignore corn, but will eat alfalfa. They tend to get pretty wary about feeders.

Best bet is to find one of their main game trails and stake it out, find a water hole with lots of tracks and poo piles, or stalk into the wind. They are active throughout the day, so don't just hunt morning/evening. Playing the wind right is the most important thing you can do.

Good luck man, favorite animal to hunt.

You can't miss the poop piles. The bulls make them, then will freshen them up every few days. If you can catch it steamin' you know you got a bull close. They seem to like to drop them right at the intersection of ranch roads.

Here's a pic for ya.

First time I hunted them,I was told to go find a pile of their poop and sit on it. Now that being all that I was told, I sure was thinking of ways to go about this!!!! I sat n that pile of poop for three days and never saw one. The next morning one of the other guys in camp went to the same pile and shot a beautiful bull. Go figure!!!!

If some animals are good at hunting and others are suitable for hunting, then the Gods must clearly smile on hunting.

Ha! Good story Hogfather. I suppose I'd say sit NEAR, but not on! Like I said, they don't go to the same pile every day. I usually get bored, and take off walking into the wind. If you can find any new, sweet grass you can find the Nilgai.

Im gonna have to try sweet feed our hunts are free range and we are getting more and more people interested in bow hunting them and water holes have worked the best for us but it would be nice to use something to get them in a little closer
