Plastic 55 Gallon Drum - $10.00
Moultrie Leg Brackets - $20.00
1" EMT for 3 Legs - $19.00
Cattle Panel - $19.00
American Hunter Lid - $24.00
Paint/Hardware - $6.50
Sweat Equity - $0.00
Total - $98.50

I cut out both ends of the plastic barrel. Then cut cattle panel to 75" X 36". Rolled it into a 36" high tube tube and stuffed into barrel (very difficult) leaving 10" - 12" hanging out the bottom. Cutting top and bottom out of barrel made it flimsy and the cattle panel tube added strength back to the barrel once it was inside. Although cattle panel tube was pretty tight in the barrel, I secured it with metal cable holders and rivets. Patched piece of cattle panel over bottom opening with aluminum wire. Installed leg brackets and cut legs so bottom of cage would be about 38" from ground level. Putting it out this weekend.

Nice set up have you tested it yet? I have been using a simular set up for several years now and found the wire was a problem for me. The deer can not eat far enough into the center for the bale to feed itself down. The alfafa I get is compacted real tight. I found a single rod across the bottom works fairly well but still hangs up on ocasion. I am working on a 2 baler right now. If ok I will post a pick of my set up to show how well the hay stays intact with only a single rod at the bottom. Your wire rack could be easily altered as it is to allow more head room. I d like your set up and will alter mine simular unless you have patent rights.

It could be uh law I dont no. Yall have uh good un

Just got thru setting it up and have game camera on it. Will have pics next Saturday - hope it works. May have to make adjustments if wire too restrictive.

Seems to be doing OK. I cut out the middle horizontal bars this weekend. Appears they may have been struggling a little to get the alfalfa out by having to twist their head sideways. Filling it up again this weekend.

Way more hi-tech than ours. (throw on ground) I do have some pallets that I can use when it rains. I bust one strand and pick up the other wire in 3-4 days.
