I can. AK-47. Granted it's not as accurate but it's more reliable. JMO!

Reliable dont mean squat if you cant hit your target. Hammers are reliable too but if you cant hit the nail what good is the hammer? grin

I got love for the 308 ME as well.....Got this one Friday evening.

That's exactly what mine looks like save for the stainless scope rings and mount. Loopy 2.5x8?

They are a great rifle in some situations and applications. "I" just don't have a need. If I need a semi it would be a more traditional platform like a Browning BAR or Benelli R1, but that is "my" taste. Everybody has something that floats their boat!

If you check his other videos, he does the same thing with an AR. Needless to say, the ARs design protects the trigger group much better.

No just a reg vx1 3x9. I have had the rifle for almost a year now and it's got 8 pigs under it's belt. I cannot believe how violent the exit wounds are on animals.

I have bolt actions, lever actions, black powder, and a bow. My AR fits in the mix pretty good. I have fun shooting them all. happy3

IMO the AR is the perfect coyote/calling rifle, which is about the only type of hunting I do any more save for hogs.

I've got some pretty nasty exit wounds on animals I shot too.

tazI'm in the same boat, I like ALL actions. Mostly hunted with single shot contenders, some bolts, some levers,up to a match M1A. But My GO TO rifle now is a 6.5 Grendel, it shot out of the box better than my Match M1A. NOW after some tuning on the M1A($$$) it shoots well, but I have 2x as much money in it as my Grendel AR!

Seems to me, certain manufacturers are heavily promoting these "black rifles" for hunters to use. I think they see lots of cash in future sales by cracking the traditional hunters preference for bolt and/or lever rifles. As for me, I've actually gone the other way in my weapons of choice...i.e. black powder rifles and bow. Let's see how this trend plays out. 2cents soap

Several friends have them, shot them, hunted with one once but I don't think I would ever go get one. Usually just walk on by at gunshows, the look of them does nothing for me. Love my bolt and trying to save up for a lever.

I have a Bushmaster and then my department issued me a Bushmaster. I really haven't souped either of them up...just a few minor mods. I also have and HK91 (.308). If I had to choose I'd definitely take the HK over the AR.

With that said, I prefer my bolt action rifles to any of my black guns. I spent 8 years in SWAT and have used or fired just about all of 'em. Full autos are fun but have only one true purpose. And it ain't slaying jackrabbits at the lease, although they do that well too.

One thing Zumbo and I agree on.....black rifles just don't LOOK RIGHT in the hunting fields. I'm into bolt actions, done up in the classic style, and traditional lever guns. BTW, I own and shoot 2 AR's. But when kin folks come around, I hide them way back in the safe and deny any knowledge of same!

you definately are not the only one. I too think they are 1....ugly 2....way overpriced 3....ugly 4.....223 is worthless for me because it's such a small and weak round. I dont hunt anything i dont eat...so i dont kill coyotes...prarie dogs...etc. Wast of good ammo..;)

No, im a traditionalist i guess. I like wood guns that are sleak. AR's just have too many rough and sharp edges on them for me. I dont like all the knick knacks and add ons.

X2.

i had a bushmaster, but i traded it off when the hog eradication project was over. it was good for shooting 3 or 4 at a time from a moving vehicle, but other than that, it dosen't have a practical sporting use for what I do.

I would rather carry a nice wood rifle in the field then a AR anyday

I don't hate ARs just the 5.56/.233 rem round. I can't count the amount of hogs that have shaken off a couple .223s rds b/c I couldn't get a head shot on them for various reasons. but that's why they make other calibers for them, like my AR-10 or my .300 AAC blackout, or why Im building a 6.8SPC.

hogs is really the only animal I have problems killing w/ ARs I've easliy killed everthing else, deer, varmits w/e

Devide and conquer boys! That's what the anti's see in threads like this. First the AR's go, then it's sporting dogs, then feeders(Oh ya'll will love that) and so on and so on.

Hell, we can't even support each others method of legal hunting and the anti's love it. I don't fear the anti's in the slightest, it's the stuff said in threads like this that will be used against us. You think the anti's don't moniter these forums? Texas is the most firearm friendly state in the union. What they see right now is "Hell, Texas doesn't even like them!"

P.E.T.A won't bring about our end...... We'll do that job for them.
