I've got a buck I've been watching for 2 years,he only shows up at my feeder,typical 10pt,he looks really good considering the drought,my brother says "man next year he should be awesome".He says this about deer every year.I told him we might not be here next year,somebody needs to take him,he disagrees,in the past we have watched deer only to have the neighbors shoot them,one got caught in a hog trap and neighbor claimed he wouldn't come out so he HAD to shoot him.I understand shooting a mature deer is what we all want,my thinking is if the deer is at least 4.5 years old and makes your heart palpitate-shoot him.
