I Know it's nice to kill ducks and geese with bands and to have a bunch on your lanyrd but how far will you go?I have seen guys lose friendships over bands, fist fights over bands (not in any of the groups I hunt or have hunted with but in other groups at the ramps or camp grounds),guides make customers mad over a band and not get thier jobs back the next season or asked to leave before season is over, and know of one deal were a guy stole a band off anothers lanyard.I have killed my share of ducks and geese and consider myself one of the unluckiest sobs when it comes to killing birds with bands but I refuse to lose a friend over a band.Maybe thats why I don't have many confused2 but thats just the way I feel about it.Whats ya'lls take on this?

It is just a piece of metal. Yes it would be cool to have several, but having several does not define me as a man or hunter. I already have a life, and do not need small tubular chunks of metal to validate me.

Have few that I got last year and was hunting by myself on my two mallard bands. They were a mating pair....shot a double.....and both were banded. Im glad I was alone. I would not have wanted to discuss that one.

Im sitting here tring to count up how many bands Ive seen taken that I did not shoot the bird. I can think of 9. 5 Taken by my three Sons. Never been in fight for a band or lost a friend over one. Happy to see anyone get a band that they will call in the number. I enjoy finding out where a banded bird has come from. How old the bird was. I hope to get one every season. I have hunted 31 seasons. 16 of those no band. 10 of those I got a band. 5 of those I got two bands. As for me. I dont hang them on my lanyard. I have a place at home to display them.

Those people got issues. I think bands are cool, but I also think whoever shoots it should have it. If I’m hunting with someone and we both shoot at the same bird, but I know he shot it, even if he is a nice guy and says you have it (the band), I would say “heck no, you shot that bird, its yours!!” . I wouldn’t want a band unless I knew I shot the bird, much less wear it on my lanyard, but that’s just me.

A band in and of itself is meaningless, JMO. The story and memory and what it represents personally when I look at it is what it is all about. I have one band, it means a lot to me, it represents a magical hunt on thanks giving morning just me and Molly, only saw one duck but it was a hunt I will never forget..

Shot my first band 15 years ago. Shot most of them while hunting and guiding down around Katy. I got 3 of the Canada bands here in North Texas. I've killed 8 banded Canadians in Canada. We get a few from time to time up here but it seems they don't band as many these days.

We hunt 90% out of layout blinds so the birds never see them. My buddy lost his lanyard last year while driving out into the field. His trailer wasn't latched and all the bumps caused the door to come open and his blind bag fell out and had all his bands on his lanyard. Might start leaving mine at home as well.
