hmmm. Yeah guess I need to do a little research on the sharks teeth. I converted a protein feeder not realizing until afterwards I basically have a platform for a coon to sit on. see below. Now just have to figure out how to keep them off.....

Hey Dwalls,
If you look under the varmint section you'll see a post about raccoons. There are alot of people on there saying that the cones on the legs (kyotte's brilliant idea)......don't work. If the predator guards don't work in keeping raccoons from climbing the legs of a feeder, why do they work so WELL for attaching the same device on wood duck nesting box poles/posts? They are installed on thousands of wood duck nesting boxes throughout the state and will effectively keep raccoons from climbing the poles/posts from reaching the nest boxes. The guard has to be large enough so the any raccoon is unable to jump or get around or over it, reason it's 18" from center to edge of guard. Don't disclaim a device IF you never have used it or seen it work, a little research goes a long way. Just can't let it go can you.

Build a varmint guard like this: Coon free for 2 years...build the guard to the size of your barrel, that way the coons can not reach the spinner and will eventually give up.

Or this one: Spend the 2 hours making the guard and it will pay off.

Had the same problem around my protein feeders. I use live traps and bait it with marshmallows. I usually trap about 25-30 a year. But I live on the ranch and can do it bout anytime. Might be hard to put a dent in them if your only out during the weekends.

I do have a varmit guard on mine. see pic below. I basically converted an all seasons protein feeder into a spin feeder. It's basically a platform that adapts to the 4 inch tube on one side and on the other side has a down spout. The way my feeder is designed it leaves a platform for a coon to sit on. I was thinking the shark teeth strips on top of the platform. However if those don't work I may need to re-think it.
