+1 on the manuals. You really can find everything you want to know online. However, the manuals tell you the things that you don't know to ask.

I take an extra step when reloading. It's after sizing and knocking out the primer. Like others, I drop the case into a solvent. Then I dry them with an air compressor. It's not just impatience. I also hit the primer pocket with air. It cleans the pocket without me having to use a tool.

Thinking about getting one of those fancy sonic tanks for that same reason...

I use a lyman sonic cleaner. It works great with the lyman sonic solution. I have tried other solutions as well, vinegar, soap, etc, but that lyman stuff is the best I have found. The brass typically comes out looking brand new.

my favorite manual is "Ken Waters Pet Load" does not have the new calibers, which I don't use much any way

Limited experience...

So to get started I need a couple of manuals, a friend, and 13 pieces of equipment, all of which has a handful of variables that can go wrong. Meanwhile it takes hours and hours to learn and build the ammo. Then I’d likely make a few mistakes in trial and error, so that ammo will get thrown out. But good thing I’m saving money.

I'm new to reloading. Have collected hardware and components for more than five years before I loaded my first live round. Also cleaned sized and decapped thousands of brass cases up front to get used to setting up and operating my Hornady lock-n-load turret press before I ever dropped powder and seated a bullet.

Although I'd read several handloading manuals over the years, it wasn't until my two good friends and forum members, who are experienced handloaders, worked with me on building my first rounds, now all the books and videos make so much more sense and I'll be revisiting in depth.

Also started with 45 acp, as a previous poster said, its very forgiving.

I only run every other round on my 5-station turret press... works for me and allows me to double check everything.

I use a Hornady powder cop die too...awesome for quickly noticing over or under powder charges.

Its very challenging, empowering and rewarding. Love it.

fancy sonic tanks for that same reason... I changed to wet SS pin tumbling, works best. At this time, powder is difficult to find and primers are generally out-of-stock. Everything but primers is getting better, slowly. At least I cast my own so cost is greatly reduced.

Lots to ask for on this post, all i can say, been loading since 1979, and never crimp did one crimp on a single
bullet either pistol or rifle. This past winter started crimping my 44's or both specials, and mag, and yes it has
made a difference! Lee crimp dies all the way!

Lee Crimp Die is the bast I have used by far.

One of these days I might work on it more or do another but then again it is for the basics. Might be better to do a second one for more experienced reloaders in mind.

One last manual, and of course, if you decide to load any handgun
cartridges, anything published with Elmer Keith loading big bore caliber pistols,
are worth the money and great reading.

Best advice on reloading any cartridges there are in the world today! Old manuals are fine, except lacking
the newer wildcat and new developed callbers.
