Wow I just spent a few minutes reading all the post from my last reply. There are a lot of folks that just do not like hunting shows but sure know a lot about ones on TV they do not like.

Yes some of the shows do cut aways on drawing the bow, looking down the rifle, and such. But if the camera does not catch the shot then the shot never happend. So unless the show has multipal camera's rolling all at the same time then the draw back, looking down the rifle, etc.. must be filmed after the shot, unless the camera person is directly behind or has the animal and the hunter in frame.

This week Wayne is in Africa hunting Cape with his bow, he tries several times to get on a Buffalo using spot and stalk but finally had to resort to a tree stand over a water hole. And next week we are in South Texas with Jorge of South Texas Big Bore Outfitters hunting Oryx. I am the camera person for Rachel and was able to get the shot and her in the same frame. We on the second hunt used two cameras and got the hunter making the shot and the animal being hit.

Producing a show is very hard work and it is great to come here and read all the comments made about what people do not like and what they do like. But sorry I do not think Rachel will color her hair blonde, but she will be hunting some large whitetail this season for next seasons shows.

Keep the comments going, I promise we will listen and do our hardest to improve and bring to the television what the viewers want to see.

Stay safe and lets go shoot something.

Blah Blah Blah... is all I hear, almost as bad as listenig to an obama speach. I hate watching people get rich by destroying things that I love. No hunting shows for me. I have also quit watching footbal basketball and baseball, never was much of a fan, just sick of seeing the idiots of the world get rich for no reason other than people think they is cool.

Used to see on shows all the time the millions of advertiesements, and then when they finaly did wing the deer on the last day of the show they couldnt even stay for the recovery because they had another hunt booked already???

And for the shows that have a hot little honey on there, lets face the facts she is only there for one reason, apealing to the eye and up ratings... so why not just have her perade around in a camo bakini while hunting in canda? you would probably get more viewers... and be able to draw some new veiwers to hunting in as well!

Hi. I’m Smiling Mallard and I’m a hunting show addict.

That being said, I do have my favorites and then there are those that I watch simply because I want to see what the dill weeds are going to do this week (Pigman). Lots of what has been posted in this thread is dead on. Post hunt “reenactments” seem to have become the standard in today’s plethora of hunting shows that are being aired and in most cases these are quite annoying.

The early days of “Road trips” were outstanding but now Waddell seems to be simply acting instead of hunting. I still watch Road Trips and Bone Collector though as they are still some of the best stuff out there and Nick Mundt and Travis Turner are a riot. I ran into Waddell and John Tate about 7 years ago in the Brownwood Wal-Mart of all places. I see Waddell walking toward us in the store and I turn to my buddy I was with and said “Look…its Tyler Jordan!” They cracked up and stopped and chatted for a few minutes and genuinely seemed like normal everyday people.

My favorites now are the Drury’s shows. They are slickly produced and have a lot of over the shoulder type shots in their productions. Of all the shows I watch, I think I pick up more stuff from theirs than any others in the way of tactics etc. Jimmy Big Time...now that's funny.

Very cool to hear the feedback from Ken of Hunt Wicked Close as he is directly involved in this entire process and can add insight that we know nothing about. I’m going to have to catch your show a few more times Ken.

And as far as the hot little honey…I say bring it on. There are a whole lot of hot little honeys out there that are better hunters and much better shots with bow and rifle than your average dude and they are much more fun to look at. Of course you can spend your time watching that Squealin Hen, Owl hootin douche Eddie Salter but for me…..I prefer a little eye candy mixed into my weekly Outdoor channel watching.

cheers

rofl Get Rich ?? Really.. If folks think we are getting rich by doing this they are sadly mistaking. I and Rachel both have full time jobs in the real world and live from pay check to pay check much like everyone else. It is not an easy task to put this all together and even tougher to get sponsors. Get Rich.. I wish, I would hang up the badge and gun and do this all the time !!

Nope it is a love just as most have to be in the outdoors, hunt and fish and then bring this to the television for the viewers to watch. It is finding the outfitters and ranches that want to have their place and operation on national television and then having the time to schedule off to make all the hunts it takes to put together 13 original shows for one season. If it were not for our crew members and Co-Host we would not make the hunts we have scheduled every year, and if it were not for the new folks we are looking for to submit good quality footage of their hunts for the show we would probably fall short on footage as well.

For the ones who just hear Blah...Blah..Blah then please continue to hunt as you have and please pass this tradition on to the youth of our society so that it will continue to be strong and renew itself each year. For the ones who do like to watch the shows please do the same and keep up the comments so we can make the show better for the ones who do like to watch.

Stay safe and have a great season.

I concur, i cant STAND over done accents. Its like, ok we know you're from Texas, stop playing it up already.

Honestly the only hunting shows i can stand is Tred Barta, and Benny Spies.

I also love it when they are completely dressed in camo, head to toe, then get in a box blind...lol right! Or with a huge BLAZE ORANGE vest. They would wear anything for some $$...
Yes he is an idiot I watched an episode of him hunting cows wtf

I saw the episode too. I didn't see how hunting feral cows is any different than folks hunting feral pigs. Just my 2cents

I love the Benny Spies Show. He misses. His equipment lets him down. He gets skunked (golf course white tail episode). And that Winnebago is hilarious. But most of all, that's how me and my brother hunt. Just plain fun.

Major League Bowhunter is exactly what you described. They explain every inch of the hunt and how/why they were successful or unsuccessful. The host of this, Jeff Danker, also has another show called Buckventures outdoors. These are about the only 2 hunting shows i can bear to watch anymore!

Tv shows are tv shows its all for entertainment value and money. They filmed a show at the country club I worked at this summer and they film a "spontaneous fight" 9 times before they got the right take.

Hank Parker is still my favorite though, and Tiffany L.... She puurdy

I seriously do not mean to be rude, but if you have 20+ years under your belt as a LEO and your wife(?, I am making a possibly wrong assumption) works for a well known law firm (even as a receptionist) you should not be living paycheck to paycheck. If you have money to hunt exotics as shown on your website you obviously have much more money than I do. People have different priorities and I respect what you value, but stating on this forum that you live paycheck to paycheck is either flat out fallacy or you are in serious need of a financial advisor. I do NOT live paycheck to paycheck and I am an E-5 in the army with 7 years in. My pay is public information and can easily be googled. I pay rent in Louisiana where I am stationed and rent in Houston where my GF and children live, not to mention 25% goes to child support; which I happily pay. Again, I don't mean to ruffle your feathers but you are mistaken one way or another. You either don't know what struggling is or live well beyond your means.

BTW- Thank you for your public service as an LEO and I think maybe I'll have to check out your show, as I am by far not a fan of hunting shows. Good luck with your endeavor and take care.
BTW

the episode where they deer hunt Texas out of a ground blind is funniest thing I have seen.

low fence - they show several exotics coming into their feed.

wild deer - they show a big buck walk up to the window looking for a hand out.

reshooting different angles - they make fun of everything we have talked about in this thread.

professional hunter & pro staff – you have to laugh at it.

I saw a girl get out of a pop up blind yesterday, walk up to her deer and do the whole act. She was wearing a safety harness that they advertise on their show! A safety harness in a ground blind???

I've seen TV fisherman set the hook with a spinning
reel and land the fish with a baitcaster. Explain how
that happens.

I was on the Robie's Dock in Islamorada , Fl feeding
the tarpon. Roland Martin's crew was filming under
water shots of tarpon striking a hookless fly.

I saw the footage edited into their show the next
year. smile there is no way to get an underwater shot
of a tarpon taking a fly on the flats, Don't insult
our inteligence by editing it in.

Some of the shows are almost as real as pro wrestling.
