Me and my older brother did a hunt thru the Texas Hunt Lodge we each killed a deer that they said scored in the 160's. I had mine scored by an official scorer when i got back home and found out the deer only scored 151 and my brothers scored close to the same thing. we each paid for a 160 class deer. we never seen them score the deer and they are refusing to give us the money back for the cost of a 150 class deer which is a 1000.00$ difference..mine was entered into a contest as a 162 which is wrong and also the ranch and county i killed it on they put as another ranch and county. we have been fighting to get the difference of our money back without having to hire a lawyer.. this ranch and the people that run it are crooked people and i would not do any hunt thru them.. if anyone has any information that could help me out please let me know.. i am still trying to figure out what i can do..these people have definately used a deceptive trade practice which is illegal

is this the place? click here If so I would never have booked with them. Sounds like a zoo more than anything else from the list of animals they have available.

Not really - it says they have those animals over 100,000 acres because they work in a co-op with a bunch of different ranches. To the OP, if you really want to press the issue, you'd probably have a slam-dunk case of easily measured damages, but you'd have to take them to court. If you have a friend that's a lawyer, they might agree to your claims if you simply have an attorney write up a letter. This is all assuming the contract you signed says that the fee you pay is based on the actual measurement.

since you are on looking for $1000, this could be handled in small claims court. An attorney is not required. You want to take the person who "officially" scored the buck as a witness + the antlers

Make sure and post a review in the outfitters section of this forum. Don't want other hunters to get taken like this. I'd have a lawyer send them a letter with 72 hrs to respond. If they don't offer a check plus your attourney fees, take them to small claims court.
Also.. If they filled out the tag's incorretly, that needs to be reported to TPWL.

One other question... did the contract state gross or net measurements? That could explain a diffference between the scores.

You have to remeber how long it was scored before the second time. Deer will shrink but not that much

I did not mean amount of land, I just get pissed about this many exotics being in Texas. Why destroy something with nothing wrong with it. I don't mind a few exotics, but that list is excessive. African porcupines??? how do they keep those things fenced in? I would like to know

here's the deer... I posted it off your link that's a nice looking deer. Hard to see in the photos, but to me, he looks bigger than 151. on a book hunt, the score will almost always be gross. I don't think I've ever seen a place selling hunts on a net score. he looks like he has about 65 up, and about a 93" frame. just out of curiousity, are you SURE your official scorer did it correctly?

Doesn't look 60's to me. Just sayin... I dont see 160 inches on him. I would guess him to be very close to 151. Very nice deer, but you should get your money back.

This is one of the main reasons why I wont book a hunt with a ranch that charges by the inch ex $400 per inch over 170"
Plus I dont like to feel like I'm getting nickled and dimed on a hunting trip.
