Corn is cheap! My dad is a farmer in Kansas and everytime I go up to visit, I bring back about 500lbs. $0/lb, can't beat free! I think I'd prefer to drive 14 miles round trip to Mumme's and spend $85 for 500 lbs if option 2 was get it free in KS.

If you buy a bunch of corn and store it for a period of time, odds are you will get weevils. It doesn't matter where the corn is stored. In most cases the eggs are already in the corn. In time, they will hatch. This why I don't buy corn before its time to put out. Of course I probably don't use a fraction of what some of you are using, so your corn may not be sitting around too long. Over here corn is in the $8 to $10 range. If levies along the Miss. River breach, you won't be able to afford corn. There won't be very much of it.

The best price on clean corn and protein that I have found in the West Fort Worth to Cisco area is from Gorman Milling in Gorman, TX. http://www.redchainfeeds.com/Corn - $8.90 for 50 lbs 17% Protein - $8.25 for 50 lbs 20% Protein - $8.35 for 50 lbs Who would ever have thunk we would be paying less for protein than corn...amazing what superior governmental leadership will do

Corn prices are headed down hill as we get closer to harvest time... we where at 7 two months ago...think futures where in the mid 5's today per 54lbs

I'd ask him if he's pregnant. He missed a s__tload of periods. I'll take "things that look like a uterus" for $200 Alex.

We just used our first load of Gorman Milling (Gorman, TX.) corn & protein yesterday and I was impressed with their 20% protein but the corn was terrible. Thats the problem when you shop for a better price. I am affraid their corn, which was the cheapest I had found in our area at $8.90 for a 50 lb bag, but it was uncleaned, had lots of junk (small pieces of cob) in it and the corn looked old and realy dirty. I am going to call them tomorrow but thought I should pass on my experience. I am really affraid it is going to plug up our spin feeders

I bought 20% protein pellets because it was only a buck more per bag. You might think about doing the same. Better for the deer.

pretty bad when my 12 year old looks at corn prices and says..."Dad, look at the price of corn we were buying it for less than $5 last year..."

$9.30 for 50 lb in Johnson City $9.99 for 50 lb at Tractor Supply in Dripping Springs $8.25 for 50 lb at Sutherlands in Brenham $7.99 for 50 lb at McCoy's in Bastrop
We might get our next load of corn in Bastrop but unsure if hauling corn weight (gas cost) offsets the price difference in the corn.
