LOL...I am still waiting on my book, But i was thinking I would start introducing gunfire this weekend, Any info on that..Should I start her out with earmuffs???...Thanks again everbody

In a nutshell, that's a good plan. Just make sure you associate the gunfire with a pleasurable diversion... like retrieving. GOOD LUCK!

I always recommend Water Dog because it comes from the perspective of understanding canine mentality. If you understand WHY dogs do the things they do, you can customize training methods and steps to the dog. Of course, if you don't have a 'sense' about dogs, it might be better to get a step-by-step, but that doesn't really speak to the unique individual temperaments of various dogs. I agree! Lardy has some great videos but sometimes beginners have trouble following them. Read a few books, get an understanding of what goes into training a good dog. Learn to read your dog, learn when to back off of the pressure and when to apply more.
