I really hate when I run into the guy that goes, "We don't eat them, we just like to shoot 'em."
If I kill it, I eat it. Spoonys and all.

It's dead either way, right? I may be going out on a limb here, but I would venture to guess that very few here actually hunt duck for the sole purpose to feed themselves. You might eat what you kill, and you may even like it, but you probably duck hunt for the challenge, comradery, outdoor enjoyment, etc, lastly - the meal.

Absolutely! Stuffed with a jalapeno, a little cheese and wrapped in bacon. Grilled until the bacon is done! Amazing!

My duck hunting has been very limited. Only 2 guided hunts years ago in Katy and each time after the hunt we went by a duck processor and I donated the birds.

I like to breast them out, cut it into chunks, roll them in Hidden Valley ranch mix and eggs, flour them and drop them into hot grease. You are right about one thing, if I had to load a boat and drive many miles, I would probably not do it, but I just jump in the ranger go to the slough, throw a few decoys out and wait. Takes 10 minutes to drive down there. Almost as easy as climbing over the pond dams up in the Panhandle......

I love em. Just found a recipe in DU magazine that's awesome and has no gamey flavor. Just grind up duck meat with some boneless pork chops and season with chipotle dry marinade and run through grinder again. Make patties and grill em up. Yum yum!

Absolutley! And I like any wild game, when cooked the right way! I don't like to kill anything that I don't plan to eat or put to some practical use (like dog training.) I'll admit that the fun of hunting ducks, especially watching the dogs work, is a very big part of why I hunt them, but I don't like to waste game. I quit hunting rabbit & squirrel for that reason - don't care to eat them, anymore.

So that's why you don't eat it? Not sure I follow. When cooked right I like duck a lot. Have I wasted meat before...sure but I have a lot of stuff that goes bad in the fridge or freezer. As for the point of duck hunting...well yeah...no kidding it's cheaper to buy a burger than to load up and hunt ducks. Something just bothers me about guys who will hunt but won't eat what they hunt...just seems wrong to me.
Dear Lord please bullwhip me for saying this but I agree, Marcstar is in the lead. Please nobody use this as a quote!!!

If it's done right, duck is great! I like it roasted the old fashioned way.

bacon wraped on a cream cheese stuffed jalapeno. YUM! We eat it this way too, sometimes! Teal is great breasted, wrapped around a wedge of pear/apple, wrapped in bacon and drizzled with an apricot or raspberry sauce.
